The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 574

Julian was still suspicious, but her explanation was plausible.

"Alright, don't just stand there. Go on in and change!"

While Julian went to change, Penelope found a set of his pajamas for Kristin to put on.

Since all three of them had been caught in the rain, Penelope went to the kitchen to make some hot tea to ward off any colds.

When she came out of the kitchen, she looked down at her own soaking clothes and considered changing as well.

There probably weren't any of her clothes left in the house. She figured Theodore must have thrown them all out.

With that thought, she went to the walk-in closet anyway and opened the wardrobe where she used to keep her clothes. The moment she did, she froze.

All of her clothes were still there, exactly as she had left them.

She'd overthought it. Theodore probably couldn't even be bothered to throw them out and had never opened this wardrobe.

Well, it was a good thing. At least now she had something to change into.

She quickly picked out an outfit and started to take off her wet clothes. Just then, she heard footsteps outside the door.

Heavy footsteps, not Julian's or Kristin's, and they were heading straight for the closet. She knew who it was and instinctively wanted to hide. A quick glance around revealed only one option: the wardrobes...

Theodore's jacket was slightly damp from the rain. He went upstairs and pushed open the door to the walk-in closet, immediately sensing something was off.

There were wet footprints on the floor.

He narrowed his eyes and walked past the wardrobes. Suddenly, he heard a faint noise and turned to look at the one behind him. The door wasn't fully closed; a piece of clothing was caught in it.

He strode over and yanked the door open, revealing Penelope huddled inside. Although she was trying to cover herself with clothes, it was clear she was naked.

Seeing this, Theodore let out a short, harsh laugh.

"Penelope, what kind of game are you playing now?"

This was a situation Penelope had definitely not anticipated.

"I... My clothes were wet... I wanted to change... I didn't expect you to come back so suddenly..." Penelope stammered.

"You came to my house to change clothes?"

He was furious and speechless, but he turned around anyway.

But just then, a voice came from outside. "Theodore, who are you talking to? Was that for me?"

It was a woman's voice, calling him by his first name.

Penelope glanced at Theodore and saw him glaring at her.

The person outside must be his girlfriend. He definitely wouldn't want any misunderstandings. Penelope didn't want any either, so she quickly shut the wardrobe door again.

Just as she closed the door, the woman walked in.

"Oh, you haven't changed yet?"

Theodore looked at the wardrobe door, which was closed but not latched, and was silent for a moment.

"I was about to."

"Let me help you pick something." The woman started walking toward the very wardrobe Penelope was hiding in.
