The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 668

"Be careful. Hamilton is definitely going to come after you," Penelope warned him.

Marico scoffed. "You think I'm afraid of him?"

Penelope considered it. He had a point. Otherwise, Natalie wouldn't have turned to him in the first place; she knew even Hamilton could do nothing with him.

After they parted ways, Marico took Kristin to Natalie.

Natalie had just finished filming for the day and had already heard about what happened from a frantic phone call with Penelope. A moment later, she saw Marico arrive at the hotel, carrying a sleeping Kristin on his back.

She took her daughter from him and laid her on the bed. Seeing the tear stains on Kristin's cheeks, she kissed her tenderly several times.

Then she pushed Marico out of the room. "I told you before, Kristin has nothing to do with you. And now you've let her believe you're her father. Don't you think it's cruel to deceive a child's feelings like that?"

Marico pinned Natalie against the wall. "I watched your kid for you today and even beat up Hamilton for you, and this is the thanks I get?"

"That's a separate issue..."

"What separate issue? To me, it's all the same. Before you start yelling at me, you can at least say thank you!"

Natalie was furious. "Fine! Thank you for watching my daughter and for beating up Hamilton! But you're a shameless bastard, and I never asked for your help! I don't believe for a second you did it out of kindness. I don't know what game you're playing, but please, stay away from my daughter and me!"

"What did you just call me?"

"A bastard!"

Marico gripped her chin, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "You know, it sounds kind of nice when you say it."

"Are you insane?"

"Keep going."

"Scumbag, lunatic, animal!"

"Is that all you've got?"

Seeing that he was actually enjoying it, Natalie was utterly speechless. Just then, he leaned in closer, his breath smelling of tobacco as it washed over her face.

"Let... let go of me!"

"You know, sometimes I think back to that night six years ago. I don't think I made you enjoy it properly."

"Shut up!"

"But for me, it's not over!"

Natalie paused for a moment. "So what do you want?"

"I'll make you and him—both of you—pay a heavy price!"

"Do whatever you want."

Natalie hung up and, after a moment's thought, called Penelope.

"You know, I didn't specifically seek out Marico back then. I just happened to see him at the bar that night, and things got... messy. I really didn't think about the consequences. Now Hamilton knows, and he's definitely going to retaliate against Marico. But I'm worried this might affect the Stapleton family."

Penelope glanced at Theodore, who had just walked in. "I'll handle it."

After hanging up, Penelope poured a glass of water and brought it to Theodore with a beaming smile.

Theodore glanced at her. "I wouldn't dare drink anything you poured for me."

Penelope maintained her ingratiating smile. "Don't worry, it's not poisoned."

"Hmph, I wouldn't be so sure."
