The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 787

None of the three wanted to get out of bed. Marico even tried to convince Kristin to skip school for the day.

Kristin cupped Marico's face with her chubby hands and told him seriously, "Skipping school is wrong. A parent who lets their kid skip school is a bad parent. Our teacher said so."

Marico hugged Kristin. "Then how about I pick you up after school, and we'll go out for a big dinner?"

Kristin nodded. "That's acceptable."

Marico rubbed the little girl's chubby cheek, marveling again at how such an adorable creature could exist in the world.

They were running late for school. The two adults and one child frantically washed up, ate a quick breakfast, and made it to the school just before the gates closed.

Watching Kristin walk in, Natalie checked the time. "Let's head straight to city hall."

Marico raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don't want to think about it?"

"What, are you having second thoughts?"

"What's there to think about? I'm not the one losing out."

"Then let's go."

Getting a divorce was complicated, but getting married was incredibly easy. They finished the paperwork in no time.

Walking out with their red certificates, Marico was about to make a profound comment, but Natalie rushed him back to her place.

"What for?"

"To pack Kristin's and my things. We're moving into your place."

"My place?" Marico's eyes widened. "We're living together?"

"Obviously. We're married now. Married couples don't live in separate houses."

"But I..."

"The Amos family isn't easily fooled. We have to live like a real married couple."

"I'm adding it now."

Marico felt scammed, but the license was signed; it was too late for regrets. Plus, the little girl was moving in tonight, so he really should put away all the R-rated items.

He set down his coffee mug, ready to help, when Natalie suddenly threw something directly at his head.

"Are you crazy?"

He pulled it off his head and, despite his thick skin, flushed bright red.

It was another piece of lingerie—but a men's thong. And... ahem... incredibly skimpy.

"I... I've never worn this! I don't even know where it came from, I..."

Natalie clearly didn't believe him. She side-eyed him and sneered.

"Your private life is none of my business, but please show a little restraint. Don't play yourself into an early grave."
