The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 799

"Still lying through your teeth, you little punk?"

Mr. Yates raised his fist again, but instinct kicked in when he saw Penelope's chilling expression, and he took a subconscious step back. Immediately regretting his retreat, he puffed up his chest to save face.

"You need to teach your son a lesson right here, right in front of me, or this is far from over!"

Penelope ignored the man completely, fixing her gaze solely on Queena.

"You claim you saw Julian hit her with your own eyes?"

Queena tilted her chin up stubbornly. "That's right. I saw it."

"Why did he hit her?"

"How should I know? But I'm guessing it's because Mia didn't want to sit next to him, and he felt humiliated!"

"Is that so?" Penelope turned to the teacher.

The teacher looked confused by the reasoning but stayed silent.

Penelope turned her sharp focus back to Queena. "You're absolutely sure you saw it?"

"Of course I saw it."

"I think you're lying."

"I am not lying!" Queena snapped defensively.

"Then tell me, what weapon did Julian use to hurt her?"

"A stone!"

"Are you absolutely sure it was a stone, and not a brick?"

"Of course it was a stone!"

The moment those words left her mouth, a heavy silence fell over the room.

Penelope's lips curled into a cold smirk. "Their stories don't even match. It's blatantly obvious they're both lying."

Queena, not fully grasping the trap she had walked into, turned to look at Mia.

Mia was already starting to panic. "I... I remember it was a brick, but maybe I remembered it wrong."

Catching onto Mia's desperate backtracking, Queena quickly adjusted. "I might have remembered wrong too. Anyway, it was either a stone or a brick. The point is, he had something in his hand, and he smashed it into Mia's head."

The teacher hesitated for a second before nodding. "Yes, I am absolutely certain they are broken."

"That's perfectly fine. I can hire an IT technician to repair them. I'm sure they can recover the footage, and we'll all watch it together." She cast a glacial look toward Mr. Yates. "If the footage proves my son was framed, you won't like how I handle the aftermath."

After silencing the man, she intentionally directed a freezing glare at Mia.

The little girl was completely terrified, her small body trembling visibly.

The teacher looked bewildered. Even if a technician fixed the cameras, it was impossible to retrieve footage of an event that occurred while the cameras were offline. Yet, despite her doubts, Penelope's sheer confidence made the teacher question her own technical knowledge.

Julian's mother was known for being an incredibly formidable woman. The flawless way she was dismantling the situation right before their eyes was a masterclass in intimidation. Surely, a woman like that wouldn't make such an amateur bluff, right?

Did technology like that actually exist?

Mia's father was equally uncertain. He didn't work in IT, and he certainly wasn't going to risk calling her bluff and making a fool of himself.

If the two adults were easily completely rattled, there was no hope for a six-year-old like Mia.

"Falsely accusing a classmate at this age? That's grounds for immediate expulsion!" Penelope barked out, intentionally raising her voice.

That was the breaking point. Mia burst into loud, hysterical sobs. "Julian didn't hit me! I lied! I didn't want to lie, but Queena forced me to say it!"
