"I was blindfolded the whole time. I didn't see anything."
Hassan frowned. "Then how did you get out?"
"Someone rescued me. By the time I woke up, I was already free. I have no idea who it was; they didn't leave any information behind."
Hassan lowered his eyes. "I'll find out who took you."
"Don't bother." She gave him a cold smile. "Isn't it a bit too late to start investigating now? Whoever did it is probably long out of the country."
Natalie let out a long breath. "I don't need you to do anything for me anymore. From now on, let's just treat each other like strangers. Once my grandmother finishes her surgery, we're getting a divorce."
"Divorce. Always divorce." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "How many times do you have to say it? I've already told you—we are not getting a divorce."
"If you won't agree to it, I'll sue you. One way or another, I am divorcing you. Mr. Carlson, I'm sure you wouldn't want the tabloids reporting that you're dragging out a divorce over a useless woman like me, would you?"
Hassan stared at her, his eyes terrifyingly dark. He didn't say another word.
A moment later, he stood up and walked out.
Natalie didn't know where he was going, and she didn't care.
When she woke up the next morning, the space beside her was untouched. Hassan hadn't come back to bed.
When she reached the living room, Cecily looked at her. "Hassan went out last night, and who knows what he was up to. His assistant said he didn't go to the office. Did he tell you what he was doing?"
Natalie shook her head. "No."
Cecily sighed. "He doesn't even share his schedule anymore. Your marriage is falling apart at the seams, and you still expect a child?"
First thing in the morning, Cecily had the kitchen prepare a special broth for Natalie.
Natalie didn't touch a single drop.
Cecily frowned. "Why aren't you drinking it? It's a nourishing broth, good for your body. And I had a holistic specialist add some special herbs that are excellent for boosting fertility."
Kara looked equally shocked to see Natalie.
She had assumed that after leaving Kingswood Arts Center, Natalie wouldn't be able to find work anywhere else. Instead, not only had she joined Quinn's troupe, but she had also gone viral after the massive online drama.
Kara turned to the coordinator, frowning. "Don't tell me the other performer you mentioned is her."
The coordinator blinked. "You two know each other?"
Natalie was just as confused. "Isn't my piece a solo?"
The coordinator nodded. "It is a solo, but our choreographer decided to split it into two acts. You'll perform the first half, and Kara will perform the second. Technically, it's still a solo piece, so you won't even need to rehearse together."
Hearing that, Natalie finally sat down. If she had been forced to rehearse with Kara, she would have walked right out. She knew it sounded stubborn, but that was just who she was. She had always been that way.
Kara's expression darkened with displeasure.
If Natalie performed right before her, with a face that captivating, the internet would tear Kara apart in comparisons. She would be completely overshadowed.
