“Never?” I asked raising a brow.

“Well, not since I stopped being such an asshole,” he amended.

“When did you stop?” Thorne teased.

Kairos playfully punched him on the arm. At least, I thought it was playful, though Thorne did rub where he punched like it actually hurt some.

“You should take a break,” Neo said. “You always get tired when you practice too much.”

That was true, but I felt fine now. Still Neo used this as an excuse to come closer. He didn’t touch me, just stood very closer.

In their teasing, Thorne had punched Kairos’s arm just as hard, and now there was something of a brawl, with Max trying to litigate. He didn’t seem to be having much success, rubbing his forehead with his free hand.

With the others distracted, Neo whispered to me, “They touch you so easily.”

I looked at him with some confusion. We hadn’t had sex since last night. Unless… oh. Was he talking about our more affectionate touches, like a hand on the back or a kiss to the cheek?

“Touching affectionately like that helps strengthen our bond,” I said. “And there’s not really any jealousy with them anymore. I think they’ve all accepted each other. As long as everyone gets their turn, no one seems to mind.”

“Do I get a turn?” he whispered.

I looked at him, and he kissed me, soft and slow, a simple press of his lips to mine.

My wolf happily hummed, and the mating bond thrummed, growing stronger.

When he pulled back, I smiled at him.

His returning smile was gentle, barely–there. It vanished the minute the others returned.

The training continued throughout the day, until eventually, we were all tired. Standing outside of the house, we looked back at it. Neo stood there, unconcerned.

“I don’t want him in the house while we are sleeping,” Kairos said.

“Kairos,” I scolded.

“It’s fine,” Neo told me, lightly touching my wrist. “I don’t sleep much. I’ve been very restless at night. I think I will patrol the perimeter instead.”

“But –”

He quieted my concerns with a kiss. “Rest well, my mate.”

“It’s more like four or five now,” I said.
