Chapter 102 Plot Twist!
Of course, Kayla wasn’t lying.
Whitney really did come from a remote town.
She really did stick to the Andersons like glue.
And she really did get on the show thanks to Emily and Chase.
All Kayla did was keep quiet about the fact that Whitney was the real heiress of the Anderson family.
From Emily, Kayla found out that Whitney had always been hanging around the Andersons, trying to edge her out and become the family’s one and only heiress.
But the Andersons only cared about Emily. No matter how hard Whitney tried to worm her way in, they never wanted to acknowledge her.
So naturally, Kayla figured it was smarter to stick close to Emily, the spoiled fake heiress, her best shot at a brighter future. And honestly, Kayla was itching for a little payback against Whitney, too.
So, after Kayla revealed the video, showing she knew all about Emily’s true identity and the Anderson family’s secrets, she went a step further and volunteered to help Emily erase Whitney from the world for good.
That was the real reason Kayla dropped this bombshell right in front of the reporters.
After all, rumors about Whitney and the Andersons had already blown up all over the internet.
Rather than letting someone else expose it, she figured it was better to throw it out there herself in a way that worked for her.
Right now, she was keeping quiet about Whitney being the real heiress, but everything else she said was true and could stand up to scrutiny.
With that real heiress status, Whitney’s actions could be understood.
But without it, people would judge everything she did with suspicion.
Emily’s face instantly turned tense and anxious. She quickly grabbed Kayla’s arm. “Kayla, stop. Whitney wasn’t… She was not…”
She looked like she wanted to say something, but then glanced over at Chase.
With a conflicted, hesitant look, she held back the words she was about to say.
Chase found her look a bit odd and couldn’t quite figure out what Emily was trying to say.
It wasn’t until much later that Chase finally understood the meaning behind that look and realized Emily had been scheming against him from the very beginning.
But that was all in the future.
Just as the two of them were about to reach the most dramatic moment, a sharp voice suddenly cut through the noisy crowd of reporters. “So, Miss Anderson, are you saying you and Miss Harrington have no real connection?
“Is Miss Harrington only a guest staying at the Andersons‘ place?”
Emily paused, glancing over at the reporter.
The reporter, with a blank face, simply raised the mic and repeated the question.
Emily’s expression darkened.
This question was way too loaded.
If she denied it, she’d get dragged through the mud online once Whitney’s real status was revealed.
But there was absolutely no way she could admit it.
She and Kayla were keeping everything intentionally ambiguous, playing it as vague as possible.
Even if Whitney’s true identity ever got exposed, they could always spin the story to cover themselves.
Emily’s mind was spinning, and she couldn’t think of a single believable excuse.
Almost without thinking, her first instinct was to turn to Chase for help.
Seeing her hesitate, the reporter pressed on. “Miss Anderson, during the second day’s stream, when Ryan showed up, he hinted that you once tried to make a move on him. Is that true?”
It was like a bomb went off in Emily’s head, and her mind went totally blank for a second.

Her face turned pale, and she staggered back a step, only for Chase to catch her in time.
The reporter was brimming with confidence, firing off questions as he cut through the crowd, and the other reporters instinctively stepped aside to let him pass.
As he got closer, Emily finally caught sight of the logo on his badge; it was the Pierce family’s emblem.
‘Pierce.‘ Emily thought, her heart skipping a beat. ‘This is the Pierce family’s media company!
‘Is this Ryan?‘
Emily felt her throat tighten and shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts.
‘Impossible!‘ she thought, panic rising inside. ‘The Pierce family’s media company always focuses exclusively on Ryan and never interviews other celebrities.
‘How could someone from Pierce Group’s media company

here, hitting me with such sharp questions?”
it?
is it true you actually have a thing for Ryan?” the reporter
As Emily’s mind was in total chaos, several more reporters wearing badges with the Pierce logo suddenly appeared behind the first one.
She couldn’t help but think, ‘One reporter could have been a coincidence, but two, three, four… This is absolutely no coincidence.
‘Ryan must have arranged for these reporters to be here.
‘Is Ryan deliberately using this situation to shield Whitney, trying to suppress all the negative rumors about her?
Her heart twisted with sourness and frustration, as if she’d been craving a prize for ages and finally had it within reach, only for someone to snatch it away at the last second.
And the worst part was that the one who took it was that nobody she’d always looked down on, the nobody who tried to steal the Andersons from her!
“Which outlet are you with? What kind of crap are you talking about? When did Emily ever try to make a move on Ryan? That’s slander, and I can sue you for it!” Chase snapped, his voice sharp with anger.
Seeing his little sister Emily pale and trembling in his arms, Chase lost it.
These reporters weren’t sent by Anderson Group.
‘Where do these reporters come from, not respecting the Andersons at all?‘ Chase fumed. ‘How dare they bully the Andersons‘ precious princess and make her suffer like this?‘
“Mr. Anderson, are you really that confident? Are you absolutely sure your sister never had a thing for Ryan?” the reporter challenged, refusing to back down.
He stared right back at Chase, unfazed by his glare, and his questions got trickier. “So, Mr. Anderson, are you saying that Mr. Pierce made it all up, and that he’s out here publicly dragging your sister’s name through the mud?”
Chase opened his mouth, but for once, he, who always handled reporters like a pro, was left completely speechless.
Of course, he was sure Emily would never throw herself at Ryan.
But there was no way he could say Ryan was lying or trying to smear Emily’s name.
If he nodded, he’d be making an enemy out of the Pierce family.
If that happened, Brandon would beat him up, and even worse, his father would probably kick him out of the family for good.
Emily grabbed onto Chase’s shirt at his waist, desperate for him to speak up and explain things for her.
She waited, but his voice never came.
She cursed him in her mind. ‘Useless!‘ Her resentment toward Whitney grew even stronger.
If it hadn’t been for Whitney, Ryan never would’ve exposed her feelings for him during the stream.
And these reporters wouldn’t be hounding her about it now.
‘Useless, Emily grumbled to herself about Chase, but she knew deep down there was absolutely no way to get out of this question.
Just then, the reporters started another round of pointed questions. “Chase, everyone knows you and your sister are really close, but let me ask. You’re both adults, a young man and a girl.
“Even if you’re siblings, shouldn’t you keep a little distance between you?”
