Chapter 110 You Gotta Respect Boundaries
Emily’s eyes widened in shock.
Sure enough, thanks to those reporters‘ leading questions, Paula had already picked up on it. Emily felt a surge of irritation.
She blamed those reporters for sticking their noses in, and the netizens for being so nosy.
But what she hated more was Whitney. All of this started because of Whitney, she thought. ‘If I can’t interact with my brothers like I used to, I’ll definitely lose a lot of my advantages.
‘Even though I’m confident I can get all my brothers to stand by me, what if…
She’d long since gotten used to winning all her brothers over with this approach.
Even though she was full of unwillingness and frustration inside, Emily didn’t let any of it show on her face.
She was stunned, her eyes wide as she looked at Paula with a mix of shock and embarrassment.
Then, her eyes turned red as she started to cry. “Mom, I’m sorry… I really didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to be so close to my brothers… I thought we were family…”
“Mom!” When Emily started crying, Eric scowled, clearly annoyed. “Those people online are jealous of how tight we are. Emily’s our little sister.
“If she’s upset, what’s wrong with me holding her and letting her cry it out? Am I supposed to stand there and watch my sister cry and not do a damn thing?”
we were always fighting and
He rattled off a bunch of questions at Paula, sounding pretty fired up. “Mom, would you rather w acting like enemies every time we saw each other?”
Eric was totally on the same page as Chase.
He thought, ‘We’re real siblings. We grew up together, and we love doting on Emily. What’s wrong with that?
‘Is hugging or kissing your own sister really something people should make a big deal about?
‘Have these people never had family?‘
Paula’s brows knitted together, momentarily at a loss for words after being called out by her son. After a long pause, she finally said, “That’s not what I meant… Of course, I’m happy you all get along so well, but-
“That’s it, isn’t it?” Eric cut her off. “Those people are bored out of their minds. Show me the law that says adult siblings can‘ thug each other!”
Paula was left speechless.
That was not what she was trying to say at all.
But somehow, she couldn’t deny that Eric made sense.
It was normal for siblings to be a little close.
But… they weren’t actually blood–related siblings.
‘What if something really did happen between them… Pa
couldn’t help but worry.
She shuddered, not daring to picture that kind of scenario.
Especially when she thought about her sons getting married someday. ‘What kind of wife will be okay with her husband always hugging and being so close with his sister?
‘If she gets jealou
it’ll feel awkward.
Uncomfortable inside.
‘But if she doesn’t, she’ll feel
‘Who would want their daughter to marry into a family like that?”
But seeing Emily looking so helpless and wronged, like she couldn’t stand up for herself, Paula couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy.
She thought about how Emily had been picked on by Whitney during the show, and after finally making it off the island, she got grilled by those ruthless reporters with their pointed questions.
She really had it rough.
Paula rubbed her aching temples. “Alright, it’s good that you all get along, but from now on, you need to have some boundaries and know your limits.
Chapter 110 You Gotta Respect Boundaries
“If I catch you hugging and acting all lovey–dovey instead of like real siblings again, I’ll ship Emily off abroad!”
“Mom!” Eric’s face changed instantly when Paula threatened to send Emily abroad.
He was about to argue back.
But Emily cut him off in time. “Okay… Mom, I understand. I’ll be careful.”
Seeing how obedient Emily was, Paula’s anger softened a little.
She figured maybe she hadn’t taught them enough about respecting boundaries, which was why they still had no sense of limits as adults.
Luckily, Emily was pretty easy to manage and always listened.
She needed to pay more attention from now on.
Thinking this, Paula frowned and looked at Eric, who was still standing around. “You get out of here. I’ll take care of Emily.
“Honestly, it is not appropriate for the two of you to be alone together in the middle of the night like this”
“I can take care of Emily!” Eric protested, unwilling to leave. ‘She’s been crying her eyes out, looking so miserable and upset. If I leave now and she starts crying again, who will be there to comfort her?‘
Paula’s face darkened again, and she shot Eric a fierce glare.
ut he
Eric felt a chill run down his spine and shrank back, but he still wanted to protest.
Right then, his phone started ringing.
He picked up, clearly irritated, ready to bite someone’s head off.
But as soon as he heard the voice on the other end, a cold smirk crept onto his face. “Did you get it done?”
The voice on the other end replied with something else.
Eric shot a glance at Paula and Emily by the hospital bed, his eyes flickering, and then suddenly said, “Alright, I’ll be right there.”
He hung up.
Paula frowned at him. “Where are you going? Hanging out with those troublemaker friends again? It’s already past one in the morning. What could they possibly want with you now? Get your butt home!”
But Eric didn’t look at Paula. Instead, he shot Emily a quick wink.
Then he waved his hand dismissively. “Mom, I’m an adult now. I can handle myself. Just chill.”
With that, he turned around, hands in his pockets, and walked off, his steps noticeably lighter.
Paula watched Eric’s retreating figure and couldn’t shake the feeling that the smile he had when he answered the phone was a bit strange.
All the Anderson boys were outstanding.
But Eric was the only one who never gave her a moment’s peace.
The other four brothers were thriving in respectable careers, but Eric loved messing around with all kinds of rebellious things.
He’d run off abroad to play esports and then get into racing; he was always chasing after things like that.
Still, Eric always knew his limits. He might be wild and rebellious, but when it came to things he shouldn’t mess with, he never crossed the line.
Paula thought, ‘Whatever.
Honestly, it is better for him to go hang out with his rowdy friends than stay here in the hospital alone with Emily.
So Paula decided not to stop him.
Emily made sure not to meet Paula
eyes, watching Eric leave.
‘That call just now… Emily couldn’t help but wonder. ‘It had to be from the ones Eric had working against Whitney.
‘Looks like they pulled it off..
‘Does that mean Eric’s plan really worked?‘
Just imagining the scene made Emily’s heart race with excitement.
‘That bitch Whitney… Emily thought, her eyes flashing with malice. ‘Tonight is going to be a nightmare for her!
It’s a nightmare she’ll never escape from, one I can use to keep her in my grasp forever!
Chapter 110 You Gotta Respect Boundaries
‘Eric has just gotten chewed out by Paula, and now he is heading over to Whitney; he is definitely going to vent all his anger on her.
‘If it weren’t for Paula being here, I would’ve totally gone with Eric to witness Whitney’s misery firsthand.
‘No need to hurry.
I’ll get a good night’s sleep now.
‘Tomorrow, I’ll see it all.
1
‘Tomorrow morning, I will finally get to see Whitney crawling at my feet, begging desperately for forgiveness. That’s the sight I’ve been waiting for.
I’m going to stomp Whitney’s pride into pieces, shattering every bit of that arrogance she’s shown these past few days.
‘I’ll make Whitney grovel on the floor like a beaten dog, humiliated and barely hanging on. That’s just what I want.”
