Chapter 147 Another Mom
If it came to that, her end would be even worse.
For the Anderson family, making someone disappear without a trace was a piece of cake. She didn’t stand a chance against the Andersons.
But that didn’t mean she was going to sit back and let the Anderson family threaten her or mess up her life.
As Kayla remembered the nightmare she went through that day when she was set up, her expression twisted even more with a mix of anger and distress.
Kayla said, “Emily, you’d better decide quickly. Time’s up for thinking.
“Are you going to buy my silence with cash, or are we going to drag each other down to hell?”
She let out a soft, almost crazed laugh, her eyes wild with insanity.
Emily felt Kayla staring her down with an almost sick, twisted look in her eyes, her laugh bubbling up with a wild, hateful madness.
Emily’s heart jumped in fear. Kayla had gone off the deep end. She really would lose it on air, and she was hell-bent on getting revenge.
Emily’s eyes narrowed, her face going pale as she instinctively pulled back.
She shot a look at the makeup artist, who was frozen in fear, then gritted her teeth and said, “Fine, I’ll do it.”
With that, she sat back down. “Get out. We’ll talk after the taping.”
Once the show was over, she was going to call Brandon and have him really put this bitch in her place.
Her best hope was to utterly destroy Kayla.
She was going to make sure Kayla never got another chance to show up in front of the public.
‘How dare this bitch try to threaten me?’ Emily fumed inwardly.
Still, Kayla refused to leave.
She crossed her arms and leaned casually against the makeup table, giving Emily a teasing, almost taunting look.
Emily’s anger simmered under that gaze, her brows knitting together as she snapped, “Why are you still here? Get lost.” “Emily, do you really think I’d fall for the same trick twice?” Kayla looked at Emily like she was completely clueless. “Last time on Real Survival, you guys totally played me for a fool.”
Her voice dragged out the last word, breathy and haunting, full of misery. It really did sound like a ghost wailing for ice.
Emily’s face fell as she remembered how she and Chase had pulled one over on Kayla during the show. “Alright, what do you want from me?” she asked.
“Make sure the money’s in my account before the show starts,” Kayla smirked, her tone sharp and unmistakable. Emily’s brows knitted together. “Where am I supposed to get that much cash on such short notice?”
“That’s your problem,” Kayla replied, her smile turning even more wicked.
She tilted her head, twirling a lock of her wavy hair with a sultry touch. “I’m sure someone like you can get that kind of money together fast, Emily.”.
As she spoke, Kayla glanced at the clock on the wall. “You’ve got fifteen minutes to come up with the cash.”
Emily’s face contorted with rage, her eyes flashing with a deadly glare.
But Kayla stood her ground, totally fearless.
When you’ve lost everything, even control over your own life, what’s left to be afraid of?
Kayla was living that reality right now. She was out to scare Emily, plain and simple.
She wanted Emily to be on edge, scrambling to meet her demands.
She was determined to rip off Emily’s fake, saintly mask and show everyone what she was really like.
‘Emily loves pretending, doesn’t she? Let’s see how long she can keep up the act,’ Kayla thought.

“Fine, Emily said. She forced the word out bet
Then she shot Kayla a deadly glare. “Get out. I Thirteen minutes left. She had to raise the cash and get her makeup exactly the way Director Rowe wanted.
Chapter 147 Another Mom
If that person found out she didn’t stick to the plan, she’d pay for it big time.
Thinking about it made Emily’s face go even darker. She gritted her teeth and spat out each word, “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure the money’s in your account before the show starts.”
Kayla gave Emily a sultry, almost dangerous smile.
Then, with a confident sway of her hips, she turned and strutted out of the dressing room.
Emily glared at Kayla’s retreating figure, so mad she could barely see straight. She slammed herself back into her chair, practically shaking with rage.
She whipped her head around to the makeup artist, who was still gawking like a gossip-hungry spectator, eyes wide in disbelief. “What are you staring at? Get over here and fix my makeup, now.” Emily barked.
The makeup artist’s back was still aching from Emily’s shove earlier. But she couldn’t risk crossing Emily.
So, rubbing her bruised back, she nervously made her way over
Emily pulled out her phone and started dialing, squinting at the makeup artist with a warning look. “If you work in this industry, you should know what to say and what to keep your mouth shut about.”
The makeup artist nodded over and over, practically trembling.
He was starting to freak out. ‘Am I really going to get taken out by Emily because I overheard this juicy drama?’ he thought. But he didn’t dare let a hint of his fear show. Forcing himself to keep calm, he kept working on Emily’s makeup.
Emily switched gears and started making phone calls.
She reached out to her contacts in the entertainment industry, mostly other women she knew.
But as soon as she brought up money, everyone suddenly had all sorts of excuses to hang up.
Some even tried to probe her, openly or subtly gossiping about the latest rumors online about the Anderson family, wondering if any of it was actually true.
Emily was so pissed off; she almost chucked her phone across the room.
These bitches used to swarm around her the moment she showed up, all calling her Emily and sticking to her side like loyal lapdogs.
And now they actually had the guts to mock her to her face.
After making several calls, she still hadn’t raised a single dollar.
Time was running out. With no other options left, Emily had no choice but to call her ultimate simp, Eric.
She knew that as long as she asked, Eric would hand over whatever she wanted, no questions asked.
Sure enough, the moment she brought up money, Eric didn’t even hesitate. “How much do you need?”
Emily asked directly, “How much do you have?”
Eric immediately sounded anxious. “Emily, is something wrong? Why are you suddenly asking for money?”
Emily frowned. “I’m fine. I don’t have time to explain right now. Transfer everything you have to me. I’ll pay you back later.”
She was starting to get impatient.
But Eric didn’t pick up on her impatience. He knew she was in a rush.
He didn’t press her any further and agreed right away.
Not long after, Emily’s phone buzzed with a notification: six hundred sixty thousand dollars had been transferred into her
account.
‘Six hundred sixty thousand dollars?’ Emily thought. She was honestly pissed.
Wasn’t he always saying he loved her the most, that he’d give her anything she wanted?
Now that she actually needed cash, all he sent was six hundred sixty thousand dollars.
‘Does he think I’m some beggar or what?’ Emily fumed to herself.
She always knew it. The Andersons were all about scheming, not a single one of them ever genuinely cared about her.
Even if she pulled together everything she owned, mortgaged her properties, she’d barely get close to two million dollars. With Eric’s six hundred sixty thousand dollars, she still had more than around 3 million dollars to go.
Emily thought, ‘Kayla really has the guts to demand a fortune.
‘Once the show’s over, I’ll make her cough up every last dollar she squeezed out of me.
Chapter 147 Another Mom
Emily’s expression twisted again, so much that she looked almost unrecognizable.
Her face was so contorted with anger and frustration that the makeup artist couldn’t even figure out how to work on her.
But the makeup artist didn’t dare complain. He rushed through the job, afraid to say a single word.
Only five minutes to go before the taping began. Her makeup was done.
Emily jumped up and made a beeline for the bathroom.
Once she was sure no one else was around, she pulled out her phone and punched in a number.
After begging everyone she could think of for cash and getting nothing, this was the only option left.
As she dialed, the screen showed the number [10086]. But as soon as the call connected, it wasn’t the automated voice of/ Customer Service on the other end. It was a middle-aged woman.
“Emily?” Her voice trembled, clearly excited. “Why are you calling me?”
“Mom,” Emily said, her voice steady but urgent. “I need four million dollars. Transfer it to me in three minutes.”
The woman on the other end was startled. “What happened? Why do you suddenly need so much cash?”
When Eric had asked her earlier, Emily had felt impatient.
But now, when her mom asked, all her pent-up frustration spilled out. “Mom, I don’t have time to explain everything. “It’s all because of that person. They made me go on this show, and I’ve been treated horribly.
“Now someone’s threatening me. If I can’t get the money, they’ll destroy me.”
Emily’s voice was already trembling with tears. “Mom, please, you have to help me. No one else can, only you.
“Mom, all that money I helped you get from the Anderson family. There should be tens of millions by now. Please, send it to me; I can’t let myself get ruined.
“Mom, I’m supposed to be at the very top in Roynfort. I can’t let everything fall apart like this.”
The middle-aged woman felt her heart break for Emily, but the mention of that person made her instantly anxious. “Sweetie, please, don’t get upset. If he’s doing this, he must have his reasons.
“Don’t worry, don’t cry. I’ll send you the money right now, I promise. I’m transferring it this second.”
Emily wished she could vent a little more, maybe cry to her mom for a few more minutes.
But time wouldn’t wait for her.
She muttered that she’d call again when she had the chance, then hung up right away.
Not even a minute had gone by. Five million dollars hit her account.
Emily thought, ‘Of course, it’s always my real mom who actually cares about me.
‘The Anderson family? They never once treated me like real family.’
Showtime was almost here. Emily rushed out of the bathroom and made a beeline for the set to find Kayla.
After Emily left, the door to the most hidden stall slowly creaked open.
An adorable girl stepped out, looking small and delicate.
She glanced toward the bathroom entrance, her face tightening with a hint of worry.
She thought, ‘Was that Emily on the phone? Who was she calling? Mom?’
She’d met Mrs. Anderson before. But the voice on the phone definitely wasn’t Mrs. Anderson,
‘So who was she calling Mom? And who did Emily ask for all that money, and actually get it?’ she wondered.
At the set, beads of cold sweat were pouring down Emily’s forehead. She was a bundle of nerves.
She’d cut it razor close, wiring the full six point seven million dollars to Kayla’s account right at the last possible second. Kayla shot Emily a sly, satisfied smile. “Thanks, Emily. I’ll make sure to cooperate and guarantee you feel every dollar was well spent.”
Then, with a confident sway of her hips, she strutted into the studio.
Emily was furing inside, but when the crew called her over, she plastered a smile on her face and walked over.
This was a prime-time variety show on Roynfort Broadcasting, and even though it was a live broadcast, the ratings were through the roof.
What made it even more exciting was that this time, they’d invited the crew and guests from Real Survival.
Chapter 147 Another Mom
Real Survival was already a huge hit.
And since the show ended, none of them had made a public appearance.
Earlier that morning, fans of Nora and the others had snapped some behind-the-scenes photos, showing the guests filming a variety show together. Those leaks had already shot straight to the top of the trending charts.
Not to mention, having the Real Survival cast and crew show up live on the variety show was guaranteed to send the ratings through the roof.
The moment the stream started, the place went wild. The viewer count shot up to hundreds of thousands instantly.
Chat messages were flying by like lightning, so fast you couldn’t even read a single one. It was a wall of text racing across
the screen.
The chat was buzzing, with everyone talking about all

and trending topics that kept popping up ever since
Then, the viewers and onlookers watched as a woman stepped in front of the camera. She was wearing a short white dress her face pale, dark circles under her eyes, looking like she hadn’t slept in days.
The chat froze for a few seconds. Then, suddenly, the chat went wild, messages flooding the screen.
[Emily. It’s really the Anderson family’s heiress. The Public’s Sweetheart.]
[The Public’s Sweetheart is finally here. She’s actually showing up in person.]
[There’s been nonstop gossip about the Anderson family lately. Is Emily coming on this live show to finally set the record straight?]
[All the guests this time are from Emily’s team on Real Survival. Not a single one from Wild Beauty’s team got invited. What are the Andersons up to?]
[Replying to above. There are leaks online; Wild Beauty’s team also filmed a variety show with Roynfort Broadcasting. This one’s live; theirs is pre-recorded.]
[Come on, isn’t it obvious? The Anderson family is trying to do damage control for Emily.]
[We’re all wondering. How are they going to whitewash this?]
[Liz, the host, is seriously savage. Her mouth has pissed off half the entertainment industry. Emily is in for a long, hard road if she wants to clear her name.]
Emily’s arrival made the stream blow up; the viewer count skyrocketed instantly.
And like that, it shot straight to the top of the trending charts, dominating the hot topics online.
People were flooding the stream, all dying to see how Liz, famous for her savage tongue and brutal questions, was going to roast the Public’s Sweetheart.
And after disappearing for days in the middle of all that online chaos, how was the Public’s Sweetheart going to clap back at all those crazy rumors blowing up on the internet?
Of course, the trending topic was all over the radar at Anderson Entertainment, and everyone there was paying attention. Brandon was still at the office, working his ass off to keep the Anderson Group from falling apart and trying to turn things
around.
Then, one of his subordinates came in to report.
Brandon’s adopted sister, Emily, was trending again.
The agent Brandon had assigned to Emily looked totally lost and a little frantic. “Mr. Brandon Anderson, I have no idea how Emily suddenly ended up on a live variety show.
“I’ve tried calling her a bunch of times, but her phone’s been off the whole time.”
“I’ve told her over and over to lay low, ignore the online comments, and stay out of the public eye.
“I said I’d help her, and the company would help her clear her name, but how could she go behind our backs and sneak onto a variety show?
“And it’s Roynfort Broadcasting’s prime-time show. There’s no way we can shut this down now.”
