Chapter 162 Emily Was So Angry
Chapter 162 Emily Was So Angry
Emily was surprised by how suddenly Edgar had become so easygoing.
She had already made up her mind that if Edgar really made her call that number right in front of him, she’d start bawling and beg for a few days grace before the other person could get a word in.
She thought, ‘My mom is so sharp that she’d definitely go along with my act.’
But to her shock, Edgar didn’t push her any further. Instead, he was actually planning to cover her debt
Emily had a vague feeling that maybe that phone call had now changed Edgar’s mind.
She quickly looked at Edgar, her eyes brimming with tears, her voice trembling with emotion. “Thank you, Dad. I know. I swear I’ll never do it again.”
Edgar said, his hands folded on the table, his eyes cold, “Emily, you’re a smart kid, and you know I don’t like people who act on their own.
‘After tomorrow’s Medical Association President’s lecture, I’m sending you abroad for a while. Do you understand?”
Emily knew exactly what Edgar was talking about. She sneaked onto that variety show and caused such a mess.
Right now, the only reason she was still part of the Anderson family was so she could attend the Medical Association’s ecture and try to talk Davis into helping Paula.
Once Davis agreed to their request, she’d be sent packing for real.
She’d be sent away for good.
Sent abroad, no questions asked.
t meant she’d never set foot in Centlandia again for the rest of her life.
She thought, ‘Leaving Centlandia, that was when things would get really dangerous. That person will definitely kill me.
But Edgar isn’t giving me a choice.
He is simply informing me.’
Emily didn’t dare challenge Edgar openly. Her whole body was shaking as she lowered her head and said in a choked voice,” I’ll do whatever you say, Dad.”
Edgar waved her off, telling someone to escort Emily back.
Brandon was about to go over and help her, but Edgar cut him off with a sharp command. “Let your assistant take her back. You’ve got a ton of problems waiting for you at the company. Where do you think you’re going?”
Brandon immediately stopped in his tracks and nodded.
As Emily was being helped up by the assistant and was about to leave the office, she could catch Edgar’s voice coming
from inside.
‘You don’t have feelings for her, do you?” Edgar asked.
Brandon hurriedly denied it, “No way, Dad. Of course not. I’ve always seen Emily as my own sisteṛ.”
Edgar let out a cold laugh. “Chase said he treats her like a real sister, but you saw how they acted together. Makes me wonder that, do you and Emily have that kind of relationship, too?”
Brandon kept denying it, “Really, Dad, we’re siblings. There’s nothing going on between us, I swear.”
‘Remember what you said,” Edgar said, clearly not wanting to keep talking about it. “Even if she and Whitney were switched at birth, you guys have lived together for nineteen years.
‘Blood or not, you still need to keep things appropriate between you two.”
Brandon nodded. “I understand, Dad.”
Then the office door closed completely, shutting out all sound.
Emily’s eyes flickered with icy resentment and cold malice.
She thought, ‘Thank heavens.
‘I still have a chance.
‘I still have my trump card.
Successfully unlocked!
‘I can’t leave Centlandia. No way am I going abroad.
‘If the Anderson family really forced me to go abroad, I’d have to use my own tricks to make sure I stayed put.’

Her heart seethed with bitter hatred.
ddenly, her phone buzzed with a new message.
She glanced down at the screen.
Emily’s eyes widened in shook her fingers gripping her phone so tightly it felt like she might crush it. In her gaze, a flicker of agitation and panic flashed.
Her people had sent her a message.
They were staking out both the front and back entrances of Roynfort Broadcasting, ready to nab Kayla the moment the live stream ended.
They sensed something was off and sent someone in to check, only to find out that Kayla had already left the station the moment the show ended.
The last footage of Kayla after the show ended was her waiting for the elevator.
‘She slipped away like that?

As they approached, the lead bodyguard immediately bowed. “Mr. Pierce.”
Ryan nodded, his eyes landing on the woman who had been dumped on the ground by the bodyguards, her arms and legs tied up, completely out cold.
And that woman was none other than Kayla.
Whitney approached and came to a halt beside Kayla.
Whitney’s eyes narrowed with a sly glint as she took a whiff of the air. “Figures Emily was freaking out on the show. This woman is seriously ruthless.”
There was a faint herbal aroma lingering around Kayla.
That scent was almost completely drowned out by her perfume. Unless someone were really paying attention or had a sharp nose for herbs, they would never notice it.
Whitney thought, ‘This stuff would mess with their head and bring out all the chaos inside them, if someone breathed it in for a while.
‘And if someone talked to them while they were under its influence, they would make people totally lose control of their emotions without them having a clue.
Just like how Emily kept losing her cool on the variety show and ended up doing things she could never undo, right there

on the live stream.
That was exactly what Kayla is after.
Darnn, when a woman decides to get ruthless, she really doesn’t hold back.
‘Emily always thought she could control everyone’s fate with ease, seeing everyone she stepped on as nothing but ants beneath her feet.
‘But she never realized that ants can bite back and leave a mark on her.’
Whitney stood over Kayla, her presence dominating the room, and commanded, “Hand me her phone.”
The bodyguard searched Kayla, found her phone, and handed it over to Whitney.
Whitney was about to take the phone.
Just then, Kayla, sprawled on the floor, let out a couple of weak groans and suddenly opened her eyes.
The first thing she saw was Whitney’s face. It was so dazzling and regal, like a goddess straight out of a dream.
Whitney stood there, eyes lowered, watching Kayla with a casual, almost bored look, as if Kayla was nothing but a speck of dust beneath her gaze.
