Their Punching Bag Became The Storm novel Chapter 170

Chapter 170 Whitney Is Davis’s Mentor

Emily thought, If this had happened before, Brandon would’ve promised to find a way to stop Edgar from sending me abroad. But now, all he did was tell me to fight for myself.

He doesn’t offer to help.

The Andersons are so cold and selfish.

Good thing I never really cared about them.

Emily hid the coldness in her eyes and didn’t say another word.

Soon, they arrived at the lounge.

The lecture had ended, and everyone was still buzzing about what had happened.

Since this was Roynfort University, there were no bodyguards around.

That made things a lot easier for Brandon and Emily.

They were about to knock on the door when they heard a familiar voice from inside. Since the lecture’s over, I’m heading out.

I’ve been sitting down there for four hours. My legs are numb. The voice sounded lazy.

Mentor, are you feeling sore? Want me to give you a massage?Davis’s voice came next, almost fawning.

Both Brandon and Emily froze for a second, exchanging glances, seeing the same confusion in each other’s eyes.

They both wondered, Is that Whitney?

Is Whitney really in Davis’s lounge?

Who’s Davis flattering this time?

Davis’s mentor?

If that’s true, then Davis’s mentor has to be someone more impressive than Davis himself.

Brandon’s eyes lit up.

He thought, If we could get Davis’s mentor to step in. Mom would be saved.

Mom would be saved for sure.

Meanwhile, the voices inside kept going.

No need,Whitney replied with obvious disdain. Ryan will give me a massage when I get home.”

Davis immediately got annoyed, his voice rising. Hey, I’m a legit doctor. My massage skills are topnotch, and Ryan doesn’t know anything. Why should he take my job?

Whitney said flatly, He’s younger than you.

Davis whined loudly, Mentor, are you looking down on me?

Whitney replied, He’s way more handsome than you.

Davis stood there, speechless.

Yeah, there’s no way I can argue with that, he thought.

Davis’s heart was in pieces. He kept whining, Mentor, mentor, like a grumpy old kid throwing a tantrum for sweets.

Outside the door, Brandon and Emily went from surprised to shocked.

They turned their heads stiffly toward the slightly open window not far away.

Even though the lounge door was closed, the window on the side wasn’t fully shut.

That was why they could hear every word from inside the lounge.

Through the narrow window, they spotted the same old man who had been up on stage, looking like a sage descended from the heavens.

But now, he was prancing around Whitney like a monkey, circling her and making a fuss.

Whitney, meanwhile, was sprawled lazily on the couch, giving Davis a sideeye, her face full of disdain.

Even though they could only see a small part of the room, they could still make out what was happening.

Whenever Davis was around Whitney, he was practically bursting with excitement, always trying to get close to her, fawning

over her like crazy

Even though Whitney shot him a look full of disdain, Davis acted as if he didn’t notice, kept inching closer, calling her mentoragain and again, sounding absolutely thrilled.

Brandon thought, Mentor?

Davis, the president of the Medical Association, is actually calling Whitney his mentor.

And he’s acting all fawning and eager

Brandon felt like he must’ve woken up in some crazy alternate reality today. Am I seriously seeing things?’ he wundered.

He rubbed his eyes hard, hoping the bizarre scene in front of him would vanish.

But as soon as he closed his eyes, Davis’s whiny voice came right back. Mentor, I worked so hard today. Can’t you praise me a little?

Brandon thought, Just great.

I didn’t wake up too fast.

This isn’t some kind of hallucination.

Brandon finally accepted reality, opened his eyes, and peered into the lounge. There were only two people inside. No one else.

There was no way he could convince himself that Davis was talking to anyone else when he said mentor.

Bang. Just then, Emily couldn’t take it anymore and burst through the door, her eyes burning with fierce rage. What did you call her?

Emily.Brandon hadn’t expected her to lose control like this and barge straight into Davis’s lounge.

He rushed over and grabbed her arm, trying to drag her out.

Emily shook off his hand, her eyes locked on Whitney and Davis, as if she was obsessed with getting an answer. She gritted her teeth and demanded again, Davis, you’re the president of the Medical Association.

You are the most skilled traditional medicine doctor alive. How could you possibly call her your mentor? How could you call a woman like her your mentor?

Her tone dripped with accusation.

She shot them a glare, like she suspected something inappropriate was going on between them.

She thought, Whitney must have forced him to call her mentor.

No way Whitney can actually be qualified to mentor Davis.

Their sudden intrusion made Davis, who had been fawning over Whitney moments ago, instantly darken his expression.

His face was no longer gentle or eager as it had been with Whitney; now it was cold and stern, exuding a commanding
