Chapter 169 Draw the Enemy Out
Brandon thought, ‘Everyone in the room is watching us, waiting to see what kind of mess we will make next.
‘The Anderson family had already been the butt of enough jokes lately.
‘Doesn’t Emily realize how embarrassing she’s being?
‘Hasn’t she already damaged the Anderson family’s reputation enough?‘
Sometimes, Brandon couldn’t help but wonderf Emily was doing all this on purpose, to bring the Anderson family down.
He thought, ‘It hadn’t always been like this.
‘But ever since she went on that show, everything she did seemed to be slowly ruining the Anderson family.‘
Once that thought crossed his mind, Brandon’s face grew darker.
His gaze toward Emily turned more hostile.
Emily’s eyes instantly turned red, shock and disbelief flashing across her face as she looked at Brandon.
Then, tears welled up and spilled over. “Yeah. Now everyone knows Whitney is your real sister, the true heiress of the Anderson family, and I’m a clown.
“It’s all my fault, everything is my fault. Isn’t it enough if I leave?”
With that, she turned and ran off, sobbing.
Brandon instinctively turned to chase after her.
But as he lifted his foot, something stopped him. He put his foot down, turned back to Whitney, and said, “Emily already knows she messed up. Stop with the drama, and let’s go home already.”
Whitney thought, ‘He is showing everyone whose side he is really on by not chasing after Emily and staying with me instead, making it clear he values me more right now.‘
‘So, I should be grateful and stop throwing a fit.‘
Whitney honestly couldn’t figure out what the Anderson family did to make Brandon so ridiculously full of himself.
She thought, ‘He is so wrapped up in his own ego, and he doesn’t notice how much I despise him.‘
Whitney had zero intention of wasting another second on him. She raised her hand, her fingers making a sharp cracking sound as she clenched them.
Then she shot him a cold glare. “Every day I ask myself three things: Am I being too polite? Am I letting you off too easily? Or should I beat you up right now?”
Before her words faded, Whitney swung her fist.
Her punch smashed right into Brandon’s eye, instantly giving him a black eye.
“Get lost.” Whitney spat.
She couldn’t be bothered to waste another second on him. With a flick of her hand, she walked right past him toward the
hall.
Everyone was in shock.
They thought, ‘Holy crap. The real Anderson heiress decked her own brother.
That is epic.
A brother like that totally deserved to get his ass kicked.’
Brandon cursed, “Damn it.”
He thought, ‘It hurts like hell.
‘My eye is about to go blind.
‘I can’t open my eye.
‘Damn, she really didn’t hold back.
‘Seriously, what’s wrong with both Whitney and Emily?
‘Are they both out of their minds?
‘Why are both of them such a mess?
‘They’re such a headache.‘
Chapter 169 Draw the Enemy Out
After Whitney returned to the hall, she headed straight for her seat.
She saw Ryan had already come down from the stage and handed the formula over to Evan.
Thanks to their interruption, she’d lost her best shot at tracking what was going on.
But one thing was for sure. The mastermind behind all this really did have their business set up in Dovania.
Evan’s files were mostly about Dovania.
And Whitney was now certain that the man in black she’d seen at her and her mentor’s place was the same one who put the bug on Ryan.
This conference was merely the beginning.
It was the first step in drawing the enemy out.
As long as the mastermind got wind of the formula being revealed at the conference, and if they didn’t want the bug planted on Ryan to be discovered, they’d have no choice but to make a move.
And the moment the mastermind made a move, that was Whitney’s cue to start tracking them.
As soon as Evan made his move, the mastermind was already hooked.
Now, all Whitney had to do was wait for the mastermind to lose their cool and fall right into the trap
The conference wrapped up right on time at noon.
Davis pretended to be all friendly, inviting Evan to the lounge for a proper talk about the bug formula.
But Evan was clearly in a hurry. He carefully slipped the envelope with the formula inside his jacket and said, “I’ve got some urgent business to take care of.
“When you start working on the formula, I’ll drop by to see how things are going.”
Davis made a show of trying to keep him around, but ended up letting Evan hurry off anyway.
Back in the lounge, Davis finally dropped the whole serious act.
He closed the door, burst out laughing, and winked at Whitney. “Whitney, how was my performance? Was I better than Ryan? Should I try acting for real?”
Whitney gave him a thumbs–up. “That was awesome. The other guy totally fell for it.”
Normally, for an investment like this, everyone would have to run a bunch of checks, double–check everything, figure out if it‘
s doable, and crunch all the numbers before anyone would sign a contract.
But Evan only cared about getting his hands on that so–called formula. He didn’t care about anything else.
And with Ryan eyeing him like a predator, Evan went ahead and signed the investment contract right there in front of
everyone.
Whitney could only shake her head. They were totally falling apart.
And that was exactly the opening Whitney and Ryan had been waiting for.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Brandon finally managed to ease the pain in his eye, then found Emily! Together, they headed over to Davis’s lounge.
They weren’t here for Davis’s lecture. They wanted to meet him and convince him to step in and help.
Paula’s health couldn’t wait any longer.
If Davis agreed to help, Brandon was sure he’d take better care of Paula than Whitney ever did.
Emily’s face was cold, and she looked like she’d rather be anywhere else.
But Brandon dragged her along, barking, “Come on, this is not the time to be acting up. Who taught you to act like this?”
‘From Whitney,” Emily shot back, not bothering to hide it. “Isn’t this the Whitney you guys are so obsessed with? I’m learning from her. What? You got a problem with that?”
Brandon’s brows furrowed, his face turning darker. “Is this really how you’re gonna talk now, Emily?”
Emily’s eyes were red, her voice trembling with tears. “So what do you want from me? Do I matter to you guys anymore? I get it. Dad only kept me around so I could ask Davis to help Mom, right?”
Brandon looked at Emily’s teary, cute face, and despite his annoyance and helplessness, he couldn’t help but feel his heart soften.
He was always at a loss whenever Emily started crying and throwing a fit.

He thought, ‘After all, she is the sister I’d doted on for nineteen years.
How can I sever that bond su casily?”
He rubbed his temples in frustration. “I don’t want to fight with you, Emily. Let’s get this sorted out first. You know exactly what Dad’s like.
“If you can really get Davis to treat Mom and she recovers, maybe he’ll be so happy he’ll forget all about sending you overseas.”
