Chapter 21 Two Sidekicks
Elian took a moment to pull himself together. He was still shaken. “Snakes on this wild island probably aren’t safe to eat. What if they’re poisonous?”
Whitney gave the snake in her hand a little shake. Her tone was as calm as ever. These snakes aren’t poisonous. If they were, I wouldn’t have caught this.”
Elian and Nora were speechless. It seemed like if the snakes had been poisonous, she wouldn’t have saved them.
But it didn’t make sense. In their eyes, Whitney came to their rescue, and that proved she wasn’t this cruel.
So they looked at her, their eyes full of gratitude.
Whitney glanced over at the pile of rocks nearby. “If you ever want some extra meat, come over and grab a few snakes.”
Elian and Nora were speechless again. This was seriously creepy. A girl who looked like a total beauty queen shouldn’t have been that hardcore.
Even Elian, who was always bragging about his extreme sports and parkour skills, had to admit she was better.
Nora finally managed to steady herself, and with Elian’s help, she got to her feet. Her legs were still weak, and her face and lips were ghostly pale.
She followed Whitney’s gaze to the pile of rocks, her pale lips trembling. “Elian, what are we going to do about our food?”
They had stirred up all those snakes because they dropped the food they had worked so hard to find. Now the snakes had the food wrapped up, and they didn’t dare to get
near.
To be honest, they had been pretty lucky. Their path was not like Whitney and Ryan’s, where food always ended up lost in the grass or hanging from tree branches. Instead, they could find food lying around as they walked.
But now things had changed.
“That’s a snake nest over there,” Whitney said, stating the facts calmly. “If you try to get your food back, you’ll probably end up disturbing even more snakes.”
Both of them went pale, especially Nora. She had finally stopped crying, but now the tears came back. “We have to meet up soon. Even if we find more food now, we’re still going to end up in last place.”
She felt completely guilty. If she hadn’t messed up, they wouldn’t have lost their food. She could handle being hungry herself. If Elian got dragged down because of her, she

would feel guilty about that forever.
Nora, don’t cry. It’s really not your fault. No one is blaming you.]
[Seeing Nora cry is breaking my heart.]
[Whitney is so cool. Is she seriously not afraid of snakes?]
[Thank goodness for Whitney. She totally saved Nora. No more hate now. I’m a fan of her.]
[Huge thanks to Whitney for saving Elian. Elian owes you big.]
The viewers in both livestream chats were seriously freaked out by what they saw. Even though the crisis was over, everyone was still shaken.
[What are Elian and Nora supposed to do now? With no food, they’re going to starve.]
[I hate seeing this. I wish I could beg for food for them.]
“I have an idea,” Whitney said, her voice calm and clear. She looked up and met Elian and Nora’s hopeful, expectant eyes.
[Whitney always has to be the center of attention, doesn’t she? What? Is she going to share her own food with Elian?]
[Nora is already crying. If Whitney comes up with some stupid plan and makes Nora even more upset, I am going to flame her in the chat.]
[Are you even a real fan of Nora or Elian?]
[If it weren’t for Whitney, Elian and Nora would have been toast by now. If she wants to help or share her food, that is her being nice. She does not owe them anything. Why do you have to be so rude about it?]
[Why are there dumbasses everywhere? I’m here for fun!]
In the show, Whitney spoke up, “I’ve got plenty of food.”
Nora’s big, sweet eyes went wide in surprise. She stared at Whitney for a moment and then quickly shook her head. “No way. You already saved us. How could we take your food for nothing?”
After all, all five teams were competing against each other. If Whitney shared her food with them and then lost her shot at first place, they would feel responsible for ruining her chances.
“When did I ever say I would give it to you for free?” Whitney smiled. “Here’s the deal. I want you to be my sidekicks.
“Over the next five days of filming, you can help me out whenever it doesn’t get in the way of your own tasks. In return, I’ll give you tonight’s food. So what do you think?”
Whitney had always thought well of Nora. In her previous life and now, Nora had

always been kind.
In the previous life, Emily twisted the story and turned everyone against Whitney. Nora was the only one who quietly handed Whitney a clean handkerchief. After filming ended, she would gently remind Whitney not to let the online hate get to her.
And now, Nora understood that refusing Whitney’s help would leave her team in last place and hungry tonight. Even so, she said no. She didn’t want to ruin Whitney’s chance at first place.
Maybe it came from spending her whole life training in the performing arts. She never got involved in all the backstabbing and games. That was why she stayed so sincere and upright.
Whitney made the deal so they wouldn’t feel bad about accepting her help. Besides, having two extra helpers would make the next five days a whole lot easier.
Nora and Elian understood exactly what Whitney meant. They looked at her with tears, completely overwhelmed with gratitude.
“Whitney, I owe you big time. Forget the next five days. Even after the show ends, if you ever need anything, say the word. I’ll try my best.” Elian pounded his chest, dramatic as always.
Nora nodded eagerly beside him. “Me too. Whitney, we will never forget this. From now on, we are your sidekicks. We are sticking with you all the way.”
The two of them stayed by her side, thanking her nonstop and showering her with
sweet names.
Whitney was speechless. She wasn’t fishing for compliments by helping them. She tossed the snake over to them. “Here, take this. I’m going to find Darian.” Even though the snake was dead, Nora and Elian still cringed looking at it.
But Whitney had already walked off, and since they had declared themselves her sidekicks, there was no way they could ask her to carry the snake herself.
As Whitney disappeared into the distance, Elian clenched his teeth, squeezed his eyes
shut, grabbed the snake, threw it over his shoulder, and hurried after her.
