Their Punching Bag Became The Storm novel Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Dig Up Dirt on Whitney

Brandon’s face was grim, his cold, predatory gaze brimming with menace.

His eyes shifted to the massive screen in his office, split into two sidebyside livestreams.

One was Whitney’s. The other was Emily’s.

Even with Brandon pulling strings behind the curtain and pouring serious money into boosting Emily’s stream, Whitney’s view count still towered over hers by several million. And in Emily’s stream, aside from the army of paid shills Brandon had deployed to hype her up, most viewers were there to mock her or enjoy the train wreck. Some were even comparing Emily to Whitney, saying Emily was outclassed in every possible way.

Meanwhile, Whitney’s stream was flooded with genuine praise.

Brandon had built the entertainment division under Anderson Group from the ground up. He knew the game inside and out.

If things kept going like this, the moment the show wrapped, Whitney would explode in popularity, and she’d leave Emily choking on dust.

If Emily ever found out, it would crush her. Putting Whitney in the same sentence as Emily? She’s not fit to stand in her shadow,/Brandon thought.

Brandon had never felt a thing for Whitney, the sister his parents had brought back into the fold. He barely spoke to her.

All he knew was that Whitney was always fighting Emily for everything, always trying to snatch away whatever Emily had.

She’d already taken Emily’s identity, her life as the cherished daughter of the Anderson

Γ family. And now she was coming after the career Emily cared about, too?

If only I’d moved faster, my parents would never have been able to bring Whitney back,Brandon thought bitterly.

This show was supposed to be Emily’s launchpad into the spotlight. Brandon wouldn’t let anyone ruin his plans, not even his own flesh and blood.

His gaze turned colder. His fingers curled slowly around the leather armrest, his hawkish eyes burning with ruthless resolve.

Brandon barked, I want every last piece of dirt you can find on Whitney. Tear through her past. Dig up anything shady, anything disgraceful, anything you can use.

I don’t care what it takes or how you do it. By the end of today’s stream, I want the entire internet rallying behind Emily.

Chapter 47 Dig Up Dirt on Whitney

Every single comparison between Whitney and Emily needs to tip in Emily’s favor. No exceptions.

The commanding tone was unmistakable. His words were so ruthless that it felt like he’d rip the man apart if he failed to deliver.

The middleaged man stood there trembling, cold sweat streaking down his face. As a PR operative in the entertainment industry, he could see exactly where this was heading. If Whitney kept gaining momentum, her image was destined to skyrocket. And with Ryan, practically an untouchable force, backing her, taking her down would be nearly impossible unless they could unearth proof of serious moral corruption or some scandal buried in her past.

As for Emily, the Anderson family’s little princess, if Whitney weren’t there as a contrast, she’d have easily been the most dazzling guest on the show.

But with Whitney throwing out the usual playbook, Emily’s whole humble rich girl, downtoearth, hardworking sweetheartact came off as painfully fake and wildly overdone.

Especially after Ryan had called her out right in front of the cameras several times. Now, gossiphungry netizens were already digging into whether Emily had been trying to ride Ryan’s coattails for clout.

If that rumor turned out to be true, with so many people at that party, it would only take one insider to spill the story, and Emily’s reputation would be toast.

But Brandon didn’t care about any of that. As far as he was concerned, he’d spent his money, and they’d better deliver exactly what he wanted. No excuses.

If they botched this, he’d squeeze every last dollar out of them, with interest they couldn’t begin to cover.

Brandon thought, That damn Whitney. Raised out in the sticks, yet she has real skills. She’s a total country bumpkin, but somehow she has a knack for every tough job out

there.

If the other families ever find out she is the real Anderson heiress, our family would never be able to show our faces again. We’d be a laughingstock for life.

So Whitney had to be put in her place. Brandon couldn’t have cared less how she’d be treated on the show or online because of his deliberate sabotage.

After all, Whitney had only been put on the show to make Emily shine. She was there as a prop, nothing more.

Brandon didn’t care if the entire internet roasted her or if she got cyberbullied into the ground. She’d have nowhere else to go. She’d have to stay with the Andersons.

As long as the family gave her something to eat, she should be grateful and do whatever they wanted.

While Brandon was burning through cash and racking his brain to salvage Emily’s image, Emily herself was doing him absolutely no favors.

She gave the team working overtime behind the scenes zero chance to turn things around.

At that moment, Emily was heading out full of confidence, already picturing herself as the picture of gentle grace.

She would be the gracious heiress sharing her catch, basking in waves of admiration from her fans.

But her little fantasy didn’t survive contact with reality.

After sailing out a short distance, Emily recalled how, whenever she’d gone yachting with those trust fund kids, they’d always have the crew drop the nets not far from shore.

And when the nets came back up, there’d be at least a hundred or two hundred pounds of fish inside.

So, copying their routine, once the sailboat reached the edge of the safe zone, right where the flags were, she called out to her simps to drop the nets.

Her little fan club had been waiting for her to show off her skills. But when she suddenly called on them, they were caught off guard, shaking their heads and admitting they had no clue what to do.

Emily bit her lip in frustration. She thought, How hard can it be? You literally toss it into the water. Are they seriously expecting me, the one in charge here, to haul that filthy,

Γ heavy net myself?

Then Kayla chimed in with a serious nod. Yeah, I’ve heard throwing a net takes real technique. If you mess it up, all the fish scatter.

She shot Emily a look of pure admiration. Emily, you’re incredible at this stuff. Obviously, you should be the one to throw it.

Emily was stunned. She thought, Seriously? Since when is there some secret trick to this?

She’d never actually fished herself. She’d always been the one giving orders while the seasoned crew and old fishermen did the actual work.

Watching from the sidelines, it had always looked effortless. She had no idea there was any skill involved.

But with Kayla putting her on the spot like that, Emily couldn’t let anyone see she didn’t know what she was doing.

She forced a smile. I think I’m still a little weak from that poisoning this morning. I dont really have the strength. Could you guys lend me a hand?

Her followers finally caught on and shuffled over, working together to drag the enormous net to the side of the boat.
