Chapter 55 Is Saving Lives A Crime?
Stop them? How? Whitney and Ryan were riding those jet skis like they were on a racetrack, vanishing in seconds. The crew members were shouting that catching up was impossible.
Darian’s eyes rolled back, and he passed out cold. He thought, I am finished. The heavens are out to get me. If anything happens to Ryan, my career is dead. I might as well pack my bags and never work in this industry again.”

The two jet skis cut through the water one after the other, leaving long white wakes as they tore across the surface. The deep blue sea was no longer beautiful. It had become a ravenous beast, hungry to swallow anyone who dared enter its territory.
Even the sturdy sailboat carrying Emily and the others couldn’t guarantee it would survive the pounding waves.
Yet somehow, the two jet skis danced across the surging sea like stunt performers, putting on a breathtaking show. They remained perfectly steady, speeding forward through wave after wave.
The drone overhead matched their speed, flying as fast as they rode.
The drone was locked on Whitney. So viewers in her livestream were getting a front–row seat to the full–throttle jet ski experience.
They watched the jet skis drift, spin, and launch off the massive waves, their hearts lodged firmly in their throats. [OMG, has Whitney lost it? Is she actually trying to rescue the lifeguards?]
[The lifeguards could be anywhere by now, and the waves are massive. Can she even find them?]
[Whitney, don’t be reckless. This isn’t a drill or a joke. If she goes in there, she might not make it out either.]
[Shouldn’t professionals handle this? I think Whitney’s grandstanding is to build a hero persona.]
[Does she even know how to rescue people? She dragged Ryan into this insanity. If anything happens to him, she’ll never be able to make up for it.]
[Whitney is really going all out with this stunt. Isn’t she afraid of getting swept away? Then the crew will have to waste resources rescuing her, too!]
The trolls‘ comments enraged the viewers who were already so tense they were on the verge of tears.
[A stunt? Whitney is risking her life for a stunt? You try pulling that off.]
[Yeah, sure, whatever you say, trolls. The lifeguards being abandoned isn’t real. The massive waves aren’t real. It’s all a script written by Real Survival for Whitney.]
[Since when has running toward danger to save someone become something people could attack?]
[You think that dragging Ryan into this will turn his fans against Whitney? Think again. We know right from wrong. We don‘ t attack people with good hearts.]
[Whitney’s handling that jet ski like a pro. She’s navigating those waves like it’s nothing. She could compete in a jet ski championship with skills like that. Maybe she can actually pull this off.]
[Make your money with some decency, will you? Emily was sobbing and refusing to let anyone rescue the lifeguards, wasting the best window for rescue. If those lifeguards die, the cash you’re earning is paid for with their blood. Doesn’t that haunt you?]
[Emily’s fans, stop seeking attention over here. Whether or not Whitney saves the lifeguards, the fact that she chose to go makes her miles better than Emily.]
[Put them side by side and the difference is night and day.]
From the moment Whitney chose to charge into the waves to save the lifeguards, the trolls had lost all room to operate. The more they attacked her, the more they triggered backlash from Whitney’s fans, Ryan’s fans, and ordinary viewers alike. Internet users today weren’t idiots. They couldn’t be so easily manipulated into becoming someone else’s weapon with a few misleading comments.
Worse, it would only invite direct comparisons between Whitney and Emily, which would bring even more hate Emily’s way.
The trolls retreated.
The livestream audience had no energy left to fight them. Every eye was glued to the screen in tense anticipation. The sea was growing more dangerous by the minute. The cameras had long since lost sight of the two lifeguards.
Chapter 55 is Saving Lives A Drinne?
Everyone wondered how Whitney and Ryan were supposed to find. How were they supposed to save them?
Out on the water, Whitney dodged several massive waves and then headed straight in a specific direction. No hesitation.
No pause.
Ryan followed right behind her without looking back, trusting her judgment completely.
Up ahead, Whitney naturally heard the jet ski behind her. At first, she assumed the production staff had followed to stop her. Her skills spoke for themselves. She could thread through the waves safely, but crew members couldn’t keep up and would likely get swept under, so she figured they would naturally turn back.
But to her surprise, the jet ski behind her refused to quit. It had ridden through several waves with her and was actually catching up.
Whitney was surprised. She thought, ‘Has production hired an expert rider?’
When Whitney glanced over her shoulder and saw a face that remained cold and ethereal even soaked in seawater, her eyes widened.
She thought, ‘Ryan? Why did he follow me out here? Is he strong enough to handle these waves? This is way too reckless. But Whitney had no time to chew Ryan out now. It wouldn’t change anything. He had already come this far, and turning back was equally dangerous. Better to stay with her.
Whitney shot Ryan a glare, then opened the throttle and pushed the jet ski to its maximum speed.
Ryan seemed to catch that glare even through the spray. He watched her pull away without blinking. His lips, wet and glistening with seawater, had turned slightly pale. But the corner of his mouth curved upward.
He opened his throttle and kept chasing Whitney. The jet ski rocketed ahead like an arrow, launching into the waves.
The sailboat carrying Chase and the other four finally fought its way back to shore.
With the crew’s help, they stumbled off the vessel, completely spent.
The moment their feet touched solid ground, Kayla, Bella, and Jason lost all strength in their legs and collapsed onto the
sand.
Chase carried Emily, whose face was chalk–white, looking like she could faint at any second.
After setting foot on land, Chase glanced around. “Where’s Darian?” He needed to track Darian down and show genuine
remorse.
Cohen stood atop the largest boulder on the beach, staring out at the churning water and craning his neck, acting as though he hadn’t heard a word.
