Emily clenched her fingers, gazing at Ryan, lost in thought. In her eyes, there was a look of absolute resolve. She was determined to win.
She thought, ‘Ryan must be getting pestered by that bitch Whitney. If I step in, help Ryan out of this mess, and reveal Whitney’s true colors, he’ll appreciate me.
With my beauty and talent, winning Ryan’s heart and bringing him down from his pedestal is no big deal.’
Whitney instantly guessed what Emily was up to.
Back in her previous life, Emily thought the same. She’d claim Ryan as her own the moment she laid eyes on him.
Emily was best at using Whitney to make herself look good and get whatever she wanted.
Sure enough, the next second, Emily’s soft voice rang out. “Mr. Pierce, I’m sorry. I didn’t expect you to join the show. Darian, the director, was so tight–lipped. He didn’t tell any of us.”
As she spoke, Chase helped her into the tent.
Then she glanced at Whitney. “Mr. Pierce, I know you prefer peace and quiet and don’t like being disturbed. I want apologize for Whitney.”
She slowly bowed toward Ryan.
As she bent down, the pain from her leg wound flared up. She drew in a sharp breath but stubbornly kept bowing.
Emily tried to show everyone how close she was with Ryan, and meanwhile, she was throwing shade look like Whitney was next to Ryan because she was pestering him.
That instantly set the live chat on fire.

They said they’d only let Whitney take the Anderson name once Emily was willing to accept her. So Whitney still didn’t have the Anderson surname.
On the show, she was still using her own name, Whitney Harrington. None of the viewers knew the truth.
Whitney constantly approached Chase on the livestream, and Emily’s hired trolls fanning the flames in the chat. The hate started pouring in for Whitney.

“Whitney, you tried to seduce Mr. Pierce, and now you expect Emily to apologize for you? Do you even deserve her help?” Chase snapped.
He pulled Emily protectively into his arms, his heart aching. Then he turned to Whitney with a commanding glare. “Go apologize to Mr. Pierce, thank Emily for covering for you, and then get lost.”
[Exactly. If she’s shameless enough to chase after Ryan, she should apologize herself. Why should our sweetheart do it for her?]
Emily was milking the whole “Chase’s little sister” thing and riding on his popularity, and the fans called her “Public’s Sweetheart.”
But even with all the drama flying around, there were still some viewers who stayed rational.
[Chase’s bossy attitude is kinda rubbing me the wrong way.]
[I wanted to ask this yesterday. Did Chase and Whitney know each other before? The way Chase ordered Whitney around was way too natural, like he knew she wouldn’t refuse.]
[Ryan hasn’t even said a word yet. How do you know Whitney’s trying to hit on him?]

“Yap? Who are you trying to insult?” Chase demanded. His face went grim.
Whitney had stood up to him when the cameras weren’t rolling, and now, with everyone watching, she still dared challenge him.
