Ryan lifted his eyelids lazily, giving Emily an indifferent look. His tone was even a bit disdainful. “Who are you? You’re noisy.”
Then he strode after Whitney, following behind her.
Emily’s face instantly turned bright red with a mix of embarrassment and annoyance. She couldn’t help but grumble inwardly. ‘Ryan really has no sense of chivalry at all.
But she quickly composed herself and hurried after him. “Mr. Pierce,/
dinner parties in Roynfort.”
As soon as Emily got close, Ryan took a step to the side, as if she wer enough.
He had “disgust” written all over his face.
I guess you’ve forgotten. We’ve met several times t
some kind of germ that he couldn’t get away from fast
Then, in a lazy tone, he said, “Oh, I remember now. You’re the one who kept throwing yourself at me, and even after my bodyguards dragged you away, you still tried to set me up for drama. What’s your name again? Emily Anderson, right?”
Emily’s head buzzed. She was completely stunned.
Her face was burning with embarrassment, turning a deep shade of red. Her slender fingers, hanging at her sides, were clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
‘How could he air out my private stuff and humiliate me in front of everyone?‘ she thought. ‘What kind of gentleman does that?
The more embarrassed and furious Emily got, the stronger her urge became to win Ryan over. She wanted him to eat his words and regret making her feel this way.
Then, a clear laugh rang out, breaking through the strange, awkward atmosphere.
Everyone’s attention snapped to the sound.
Whitney stood there, arms crossed, leaning lazily against the outside of the tent and watching the crowd with a composed
gaze.
The mocking smile in Whitney’s eyes stung Emily.
Whitney watched Emily struggle to keep her face from twisting in embarrassment.
Emily was clearly upset, and that made Whitney smile. Even Ryan seemed a lot more likable to Whitney now.
Ryan must have sensed Whitney’s gaze, because he slowly turned his head, his refined eyes locking with hers.
Whitney’s lashes trembled a bit, and she felt awkward, wanting to look away.
But then, Ryan gave her a barely noticeable blink.
It was almost like he was fishing for praise.
Whitney thought, “Turns out, I really can’t trust the rumors. That whole cold, unattainable prince act is all fake.
Just then, Emily’s loyal simp, Chase, rushed over and pulled her into his arms.
He shot a look at the camera that had been following them, his face darkening as he glared at Ryan. “Ryan, that joke isn’t

funny,”
Ryan didn’t seem to care at all. He lifted his eyelids slightly, giving Chase and Emily a look that was half mockery, half disdain.
Chase felt a chill run down his spine. Seeing Emily in his arms, looking so wronged and on the verge of tears, his heart ached for her, and he hugged her even tighter.
He didn’t dare blame Ryan, so he put all of
Emily’s grievances on Whitney,
‘If it weren’t for Whitney, Emily wouldn’t have gone up to Ryan to apologize for her, trying to get on his good side. And she wouldn’t have ended up being humiliated by Ryan, Chase thought.
He gritted his teeth, glaring at Whitney with intense resentment.
Whitney only shot him an unfazed look.
She didn’t feel a thing. She’d been used to the Andersons treating her like she didn’t Andersons were all about picking on the weak and kissing up to the strong.
and she’d figured out the
Emily leaned against Chase’s chest, feeling sad for quite a while, but Chase never spoke up to defend her.
She bit her lip, thinking, ‘Loser.‘
But when she saw Chase shooting Whitney a hostile glare, it made her feel a bit better inside.
The live chat must be roasting me right now,‘ Emily thought. ‘Because it’s Ryan who taunted me.
She was a rookie. Even with Chase and the Anderson family backing her, she still didn’t stand a chance against Ryan’s fans.
Her only move now
change the subject and dump all the hate onto Whitney.
Let Whitney be the lightning rod, so everyone would stop thinking about what was real and what wasn’t.
Emily sniffled and slipped out of Chase’s arms. She said, “Mr. Pierce, I’ve always admired you. You’re my idol and my inspiration.
“If you got the wrong impression of me because I was pleading on Whitney’s behalf. I’m really sorry.”
What she was actually saying was: she saw Ryan as her idol, and maybe she got a bit carried away in front of him, which made him misinterpret her actions. But she absolutely wasn’t trying to hit on him.
And she was trying to make everyone believe that Ryan only said those things because he didn’t like her apologizing for Whitney.
Gotta admit, this fake heiress has got some real tricks up her sleeve.
No wonder she could fool the whole Anderson family.
After saying all that, Emily bowed respectfully to Ryan, watching him expectantly for his reaction.
But just as he was about to say something, Emily quickly cut in. “Whitney, is your foot okay now?”
As she said this, she started walking toward Whitney.
She put on a look of guilt and sadness. “This afternoon, I saw your foot bleeding, and you even fainted. But because I got hurt, Chase ended up taking it out on you. I’m really sorry about that.”
She glanced at Whitney’s foot. “I begged Chase for so long before he finally let the crew help you. I made him rush over here

with me as soon as I could.”
As she finished, she put on a look of surprise. “Whitney, has your foot healed?”

Then she let out a relieved smile. “I thought you were seriously hurt. Thank goodness you’re okay. Otherwise, I’d never forgive myself.”
She didn’t give anyone a chance to butt
And just like that, the topic shifted. Every points.
started guessing if Whitney had faked her injury to score some sympathy
Ryan lost his shot to call her out for trying to cozy up to him at the party
When Emily tried to link arms with Whitney, Whitney shifted to the side, dodo
Whitney lazily raised an eyebrow, her red lips quirking up in a casual smirk.
Emily wasn’t only trying to defend herself or hint that Whitney was faking her injury.
She was also purposely flaunting how much Chase spoiled her in front of Whitney.
If it were in her previous life, Whitney would’ve felt crushed by Emily’s words and thrown shade right back at her.
But now, Whitney wasn’t that old version of herself anymore. She only cared about herself.
Whitney gave Emily’s heavily bandaged foot a lazy look and said, “Unlike someone, I wouldn’t wrap a tiny scrape up in layers as if I’m about to lose my whole leg.”
Emily’s eyes went gloomy. She never thought Whitney would call her out with Chase standing right there.
Emily shrank back, hugging her bandaged foot, and then grabbed Chase’s arm, her eyes teary as she said to Whitney, “I–I was worried about you, that’s all. I wasn’t trying to do anything else.”
Whitney let out a cough. “Don’t play innocent. You know exactly what you’re doing, and so does everyone watching the
livestream.”
Emily looked like she’d just been hit with a ton of injustice, her eyes growing even redder with tears.
Chase immediately snapped, his voice full of anger, “Whitney, quit acting all innocent. Your foot’s totally fine, but you pretended to faint this afternoon and messed up the whole shoot.
“Emily’s foot got hurt because of you. Who are you to talk to her like that?”
‘She’s so manipulative. It’s sickening, Chase thought. ‘She’ll do anything to frame Emily to get me to notice her, even if it means making a scene in front of everyone. How did I end up with a sister like her?”
Whitney lifted her gaze, her face completely blank, locking eyes with Chase. Her voice was cold, every word cutting like ice.
She said, “First, I fell down that slope because of you. My foot got hurt, and you wouldn’t let the doctor treat me, so they had to stop filming.
“Second, you claim I hurt Emily’s foot? Alright, let’s put everything on the table. Tell everyone exactly how I supposedly caused her injury.”
Chase’s face went from bad to worse.
He never imagined Whitney would lay it all out on camera, saying she got hurt saving him and blaming him for everything.

She even denied that she had anything to do with Emily getting hurt.
If this had been before, Whitney would’ve swallowed it all and suffered in silence.
‘So this is the real Whitney, huh?‘ Chase thought. I knew it. She’s always been this vile!
