Chapter 69 Ryan Is Sick

Chapter 69 Ryan Is Sick

Whitney’s gaze toward Darian instantly turned strange. She thought, No wonder he always seemed a bit off. Turns out he’s a big olqueen.’

She cleared her throat. Darian, could you please find a male staff member to help out?

She thought, ‘If Darian really has a thing for guys, it’s best not to let him get close to Ryan.

Darian was getting even more of a kick out of this. He thought, How hard had they gone at it? Ryan actually needed the crew to help him to his feet?

He coughed twice. Honestly, the fewer people who know about this, the better. No need to bother anyone else. I’ll take care of it myself.

Darian thought, Who knows what Ryan is truly thinking? He never hesitates to show favoritism toward Whitney right in front of the cameras.

But when it comes to officially confirming their relationship, the final call is always his. For now, I could only cover for them as much as I could.

As soon as Darian finished talking, Whitney’s look at him got even weirder. She thought, ‘Wait, is Darian actually into Ryan? Ryan’s in no shape to defend himself right now. He’d never hold his own against someone as strong and fit as Darian. I need to protect him.’

She immediately stepped in front of Darian. No need to trouble yourself, Darian. Just get a young, discreet male staffer to help out, and maybe call the doctor over too.

Darian was absolutely floored. He thought, Do we really need to call a doctor? Are young people these days always this reckless?

He now looked at Whitney with a very strange expression, utterly stunned. He thought, Whitney is really something. She can still walk around like nothing has happened, while Ryan is already in such bad shape that he needs medical attention.Even after witnessing Whitney’s impressive capabilities these past few days, Darian still couldn’t help silently giving her mental praise.

Alright,” Darian replied. He needed to hurry and find someone before things got even worse for Ryan.

When Darian rushed over with the doctor and crew members, the moment he laid eyes on Ryan, he finally realized he’d completely misunderstood the situation. Why didn’t you say Ryan was sick sooner?

Didn’t I tell you right from the start?Whitney shot back.

Darian was speechless. He thought, So, it really is a fever. Nothing inappropriate at all. I really let my mind wander into the gutter.

Darian stared at Ryan lying in bed. Ryan’s usually fair, flawless face was now flushed bright red with fever, and Darian was so anxious he nearly gave himself a heart attack.

Darian thought, How high must this fever be? Ryan is my bread and butter. If anything happens to him, I’ll have to fall on my sword and beg for forgiveness.

Darian anxiously rubbed his face, watching as the doctor gave Ryan a quick checkup. He rushed over. Is he alright?

He’s burning up at 103.5 degrees. How could he possibly be alright? The doctor shot Darian a glare. We need to bring his fever down ASAP. If this keeps up, his godtier brain is gonna get cooked.

Whitney was speechless. She thought, Seriously, what does a godtier brain even mean?

Darian’s legs went weak. Doctor, you have to save Ryan. If his brain gets fried, the Pierce family will tear me to pieces.

The doctor shook off Darian’s hand. I gave him some meds. Stay with him for now. Let’s see how he does after the IV drip kicks in.

Then he stepped out to get the meds ready.

Darian’s legs were so weak that he almost dropped to his knees right by Ryan’s bedside.

Whitney walked over and gave Darian a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Relax, he was simply pushing himself too hard yesterday. He had to go for a run in the ocean and ended up catching a chill. He’ll bounce back soon, trust me.Darian turned around, his face already wet with tears. You don’t understand. You really don’t understand.Whitney was speechless. She thought, Why is Darian overreacting like this? He had to know nothing could come of him and Ryan. On top of that, he was already married. Wasn’t that basically marriage under false pretenses?

Chapter 69 Ryan Is Sick

And anyway, Ryan clearly isn’t into men. Whatever this crush is, it is doomed to end in nothing.’

Whitney, clueless about love, gave Darian’s shoulder another pat, as if saying, Hang in there, man.

Soon, the doctor came back with the meds, hooked Ryan up to an IV, gave a few quick instructions, and left.

The livestream was about to start, and Darian still had a ton of things to take care of. Staff kept coming over to remind him

to hurry up.

Whitney, getting annoyed, told Darian to go handle the livestream and said she’d stay behind to look after Ryan.

You’re a guest on the livestream. Why are you taking care of Ryan?Darían protested.

So you want to do it instead?Whitney shot back.

Darian thought, Come on. This is Ryan we are talking about. If I ask someone else to take care of him, what if that person sees how handsome and vulnerable Ryan is lying in bed and gives in to improper thoughts?

I have to choose someone I trust, but everyone I can rely on is busy with their own matters.

It seems Whitney, who is always especially favored by Ryan, is actually the perfect choice. Besides, Whitney has plenty of supplies. She doesn’t need to join the upcoming tasks, and she never has to worry about food and daily needs.Darian made up his mind. Alright. You stay here and look after Ryan. Once the livestream starts, I’ll find a chance to bring the camera over and film a quick clip of Ryan being sick, so I can explain it to the viewers.

With that, he hurried off.

The room finally fell silent again.

Whitney sat by the bed, watching Ryan. His cheeks were flushed, his eyes closed, and even in his sleep, he seemed to be suffering, his brows furrowed in distress.

His look was truly one blessed by heaven. Even looking worn and feverish, he still carried an undeniable charm, captivating and mesmerizing. Gone was his usual poised, cold nobility, in its place lay a soft, sultry allure that tugged at the heart. Whitney reached out and gently pressed her slender, fair fingertips against the furrowed space between his brows.

Her touch was soft, as if carrying some mysterious power. It eased the pain etched across Ryan’s sleeping face effortlessly. Little by little, his brows relaxed and smoothed out.

Whitney was about to pull her hand back when her wrist was suddenly grasped. Ryan’s palm burned like fire, enfolding her hand tightly.

She was stunned and tried to break free. But when she glanced sideways, she met Ryan’s eyes veiled in a faint layer of mist. Ryan seemed to be just waking up, his gaze drowsy and unfocused. His thick, naturally curved eyelashes held a faint hint of moisture. Flushed from the high fever, the corners of his eyes took on a soft, languid radiance. He looked absolutely breathtaking.

Whitney felt like her eyes had been treated to the ultimate feast. You awake?

Ryan reacted slowly. His eyes were hazy and misty, and it took several seconds for his gaze to gradually focus on Whitney’s face. His dry, thin lips parted slightly. IHis voice was hoarse and raspy

Whitney pressed her fingers gently against his lips. Don’t talk yet. Rest your voice.

Her skin was soft and delicate. The moment her fingertips touched his lips, Ryan felt his whole body grow even hotter. Whitney pulled her hand away quickly, but Ryan kept her other hand tightly locked in his burning palm, and it wouldn’t slip free no matter how hard she tried. She finally gave up struggling, not bothering to argue with a sick man.

Whitney said, You really shouldn’t push yourself when you’re already in poor health. All this stubborn pride wears your body down. Do you honestly not know how to take it easy?
