Their Punching Bag Became The Storm novel Chapter 81

Chapter 81 Seeing Is Believing

Chapter 81 Seeing Is Believing

Emily’s acting was pretty convincing. When she glanced at Whitney, her lashes quivered, making her look like a poor thing always picked on by Whitney.

After Emily finished speaking, her eyes drifted to the towel Ryan was using to wipe Whitney’s hands.

Her cheeks turned a little red as she asked, Whitney, what were you doing?

She didn’t say anything directly, but her silence spoke volumes.

Emily!Chase called out, quickly grabbing her arm and pulling her to his side.

He frowned.

Emily’s voice just now made him have a headache.

Chase wondered, What’s with Emily today?

Doesn’t she see how many people are coming out of the room?

Ryan is here, too.

Is she trying to imply that Whitney, Ryan, Elian, and Nora are up to something sketchy?

Or is she saying Ryan and Whitney are bullying Elian and Nora?

Emily has always been smart. So why is she suddenly acting so dumb?

Emily was pulled back to Chase’s side, her eyes still red, the sting of humiliation lingering inside her.

She felt a bit aggrieved.

She thought Chase couldn’t relate to what she was going through.

She figured Chase was paying less and less attention to her now that Whitney had taken up space in his heart.

Just then, Elian, standing nearby, jumped in for the kill. He gave Emily a look that screamed, What are you rambling about?, totally baffled and at a loss for words.

He scratched his head, looking genuinely confused, and said, Emily, why does what you said sound so off? What could Whitney and I possibly be doing?

Did I mess up somewhere? How did I offend Whitney? Why are you apologizing for me? Why would Whitney make things hard for me?

As the winner of the boy band competition and a rap whiz, Elian fired off questions like a machine gun, one after another.

With every question, Emily’s face turned a shade paler.

And to top it off, Elian looked completely innocent and clueless, as if he had no idea what was going on.

Then, Elian frowned and continued, I was yelling because Whitney was helping with my waist. It was pretty painful, so I couldn’t help but cry out.

I don’t think I’ve done anything to upset Whitney, and she wouldn’t make things hard for me. Why would she help me out if she was trying to make things hard for me?

After Elian finished, he blinked, staring at Emily with a look of pure innocence and confusion.

He was waiting for her to answer.

Emily was left speechless.

Elian’s rapidfire questions had thrown her whole performance into an awkward mess.

She faltered, SheWhitney, how could she possibly-

Before she could finish her sentence, Emily suddenly realized that Whitney actually did have some real medical skills.

She had heard that before Whitney was brought back to the Anderson family, she’d grown up in a small town, raised by an old herbalist, a local healer who specialized in folk remedies.

Whitney had picked up a lot of herbal medicine tricks and folk remedies from him, and she knew some basic medical techniques:

She thought, Pretty much everyone in the Anderson family had been treated or nursed back to health by Whitney at some point, and the results were always impressive.

So, Whitney treating Elian’s back is actually totally believable.

But Kayla, who had shown up and had no clue about the real situation, immediately jumped in as Emily’s loyal sidekick. The

moment she heard Elian push back, she couldn’t help but defend her favorite.

Whitney? Treating your back? Seriously, who are you trying to fool?Kayla scoffed.

She eyed Elian’s waist skeptically. Didn’t the doctor say your injury was pretty serious? You need a few days of rest to recover. The doctor couldn’t help. So how could Whitney possibly fix it?

Elian, Emily was worried you might be getting bullied by Whitney, and that’s why she came to check on you. She humbled herself for your sake. Can’t you at least show some appreciation?

Elian grinned and, right in front of the cameras, launched into a dance routine that was all about the waist.

He was the boy band champ. After all, no one could doubt his skills.

His moves were full of energy, and no one could tell he’d ever had a problem.

There wasn’t a hint of injury anywhere.

He only danced for about ten seconds before stopping. See? My waist is totally fine now.

Kayla’s face drained of color after getting called out in front of everyone, and she instinctively reached for Emily’s arm. Emily subtly slipped free, making it look effortless.

Kayla could tell Emily was pissed. She bit down hard on her lip and snapped, Who knows if you’re pretending, all to make Whitney look good?

Kayla thought, Emily always said Whitney was some nobody from the boonies.

No parents, no family, just an orphan.

How could someone like her possibly fix Elian’s back?

Just as Kayla finished speaking, a shadow suddenly fell across her vision.

A cold, subtle floral scent drifted into her nose.

It should’ve been a pleasant aroma, but instead, Kayla’s heart seized up, as if something deadly were pressing right against her throat.

A cold chill seeped into her skin, creeping all the way down.

Kayla jerked her head up.

She found herself staring right at Whitney’s face: relaxed, calm, and dropdead gorgeous.

Even up close, there wasn’t a single flaw to be found.

Kayla could tell Whitney wasn’t wearing any makeup at all, not a hint of makeup.

Whitney didn’t wear a single bit of makeup, but her looks were so captivating, and it made all their makeup and effort seem pointless.

Kayla thought, No wonder Emily is so salty about Whitney.

Who would ever like someone who steals the spotlight from them?

Just as Kayla was thinking that, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.

She tried to yank her hand back on instinct, but the fingers clamped down so hard she couldn’t budge an inch.

Kayla’s face turned paler. Whitney, what are you trying to do?

She shouted loudly, making it clear to Whitney that the cameras were rolling.

Whitney lazily lifted her eyelids, shooting Kayla a sideways glance, her lips curling into a teasing, ambiguous smirk. You don’t believe I can treat Elian’s back, do you?

So, I’ll let you experience it yourself. It’s way more convincing that way.

Kayla’s eyes widened in alarm. She had no idea what Whitney was planning, but the look on Whitney’s face told her everything. She was certain Whitney was up to no good.

She bit down hard on her lip, desperately trying to yank her hand free.

Crack! The crisp sound of bone breaking suddenly filled the air.

Ah!A bloodcurdling scream burst out, way more miserable than Elian’s earlier cries.

Whitney twisted Kayla’s wrist out of place.

Kayla was trembling in agony, and the moment Whitney let go, she crumpled to the ground.

Tears streamed from her eyes.

Her voice went shrill with pain and pure hatred. You bitch! What the hell is your problem?

She shot Whitney a murderous glare, as if she wanted to tear her apart.
