Thorns Grow After Betrayal (Celeste and Chester) novel Chapter 344

“My sister has someone special looking after her,” Raymond said, his voice laced with disappointment. “But Miss Joanna came to see Dad in Silvermere a while ago, and my sister secretly went to find her.”

Celestine had a vague feeling that something was off.

But she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

Perhaps it was just her ingrained aversion to Joanna.

Just then, Gideon arrived to install a security camera for Celestine.

“This is too much trouble for you, Mr. Prescott.”

Celestine brought him a solid wooden chair and pointed to a corner of the living room. “Let’s just install it there.”

She thought Gideon had just been joking last time, so she was surprised when he actually brought a camera.

Celestine felt both flattered and overwhelmed.

Gideon glanced at the little boy trailing behind Celestine and nodded. “Alright.”

He stepped onto the wooden chair, then suddenly added, “Celestine, I forgot to bring a specific type of screw. Could you get it for me? Cynthia should know where it is.”

“Oh, of course. I’ll go get it.”

Celestine and Cynthia went back to the apartment next door.

Left alone, the timid look in Raymond’s eyes instantly transformed into hostility.

“What are you looking at me for, kid?”

“Stay away from my mom! It’s your fault my mom and dad are getting a divorce!”

“Oh? Thank you for the compliment. I’m honored. If Celestine has any needs, I’ll be the first to offer my assistance,” Gideon said in a casual, deliberately infuriating tone.

Raymond seethed with anger. “You’re a monster! You ruined my mom! You ruined my dad! I hate you!”

With that, he lunged forward to hit Gideon’s legs as he stood on the chair.

But the man dodged with lightning speed, and Raymond stumbled into empty air.

“Don’t run if you have any guts! You homewrecker!” Raymond accused angrily.

Suspended in the air, Raymond kicked and flailed his legs.

Gideon raised an eyebrow slightly.

Just then, Celestine and Cynthia returned with the screw and walked in on the scene.

Sensing trouble, she hurried forward. “Gideon, what’s going on?”

Raymond started wailing. “Mom, this weird uncle is bullying me! He’s picking on a kid! Sob, sob, sob!”

Gideon set Raymond down.

He immediately ran to hide behind Celestine, staring warily at Gideon.

“Celestine, I believe Raymond might be suffering from some post-traumatic stress. He seems to be having a stress reaction, assuming everyone has malicious intentions toward him,” Gideon said with a concerned tone. “If you need, I know a doctor who specializes in this area.”

Raymond was inwardly shocked.

If his mom took him to see a doctor, those fake injuries on his body would definitely be exposed!
