Thorns Grow After Betrayal (Celeste and Chester) novel Chapter 345

If he was found out, all his efforts would be for nothing!

Raymond’s eyes instantly turned red, and he tugged on Celestine’s sleeve. “No, Mom, please. I don’t want to go to the hospital. I’m scared of doctors. I’m not sick, I’m just a little tired. Please don’t listen to him, okay?”

Celestine glanced back at him. “Thank you, Gideon. I’ll contact you if I need to.”

With that, she handed the screw to Gideon.

Gideon nodded.

Celestine took the still-crying Raymond to the guest room.

“Stop crying. If you keep it up, I’m sending you back tonight.”

That threat immediately silenced Raymond’s sobs.

But he still asked resentfully, “Mom, why don’t you believe me? I’m really not sick.”

Celestine didn’t respond. She just calmly looked into his sad eyes.

She stared until Raymond began to feel guilty and could no longer meet her gaze.

He cautiously tugged on her sleeve again. “Mom, say something… You’re scaring me.”

Celestine let out a soft sigh, but her voice was exceptionally serious. “Did you really come back just because you missed me and because your teachers and the maids were bullying you?”

“Yes! Mom, I really missed you, and it really hurt when they hit me!” Raymond answered firmly.

But inside, his heart was pounding.

That man could tell he was lying with just one look. His mom couldn’t be that perceptive, could she…?

Besides, his grandfather had said that right now, he was the only one who could get his parents back together.

If another man snatched his mother away while his father was in a coma, it would be a stain on his life and on the entire Fordham family.

And besides, he really did miss his mom.

He wasn't lying about that part.

Celestine caught the fleeting look of panic that crossed Raymond’s face after he answered.

If this had been the past, Celestine would have already swept him into her arms and comforted him softly.

But now, she remained standing where she was, completely unmoved, even showing a hint of impatience.

Raymond tried his best to stifle his sobs and avoid the topic of being sent away.

“Mom, I’m sleepy.”

That night, Raymond developed a high fever.

When Celestine got up in the middle of the night, she noticed his little face was flushed red.

She instinctively touched his hair. It was dry.

He hadn’t secretly taken a cold shower.

Celestine gave him some emergency fever medicine. As she was about to leave, a small, hot hand suddenly grabbed hers.

“Mom, don’t go…”
