Thorns Grow After Betrayal (Celeste and Chester) novel Chapter 370

Gideon chuckled, a hint of gentleness in his eyes. "Wipe your mouth."

Celestine touched the corner of her mouth, so embarrassed she wanted to bury her head in her plate.

Why did she always make a fool of herself in front of Gideon?

Their interaction was fully witnessed by two other pairs of eyes not far away.

"So, are you sure you're not giving up?"

Mack withdrew his gaze and observed the expression of the beautiful woman across from him.

Eleanor's lips curled up as she put down her utensils. "Are you implying I can't compete with a married mother?"

"Gid has unique taste. Maybe she's just his type. If not… how about you marry me first?" Mack teased with a devil-may-care attitude.

"Mack, do you have a death wish?"

Eleanor shot him a disdainful look and poured herself another glass of wine.

Mack smiled faintly. "Just kidding. How could I dare have designs on Miss Eleanor? But that woman holds a very important place in Gid's heart. Don't underestimate your opponent."

"The more important she is, the more of a challenge it is." Eleanor's interest was piqued. "I'm not interested in things that are handed to me on a platter."

A smile played on Mack's lips. "Eleanor, you really know how to break a man's heart. But I must say, I'm liking you more and more."

"The line of people who like me could stretch all the way to Silvermere. I suggest you give up now."

Eleanor put down her wine glass and gave him a wink.

"Anyway, I owe you one for this. Thanks."

"Anytime."

Mack watched Eleanor's retreating figure, the chill in his eyes deepening.

After officially taking over the wedding gown design, Celestine planned to contact Eleanor to discuss the specific details.

But in their online conversations, Eleanor's attitude seemed even colder than when they had first met.
