A moment later, Willow watched Julian step onto the stage.
He wore a high-end, custom-tailored suit paired with a matching tie and sleek cufflinks. His hair was impeccably styled, making it obvious he had put considerable effort into his appearance today.
Sure enough, the second he appeared, enthusiastic applause and excited murmurs rippled through the crowd. Willow didn't need to guess—she knew they were all fooled by his polished exterior. After all, she had once fallen for the exact same illusion.
But once you truly interacted with him and learned what kind of man he really was, you realized it was all a complete sham. He was nothing but an empty shell. In fact, the sheer disgust he evoked was enough to make his supposedly handsome face completely repulsive.
That was exactly how Willow felt right now. Her intense loathing for him made his voice and face utterly unbearable. It was a visceral reaction, and she instantly furrowed her brows.
Throughout Julian's entire keynote speech, she kept her head down, a permanent scowl on her face. She flipped through the informational brochures on the table just to distract herself.
While Julian was speaking, he noticed that the VIP from Merit Biotech had finally arrived. However, since she kept her head lowered the entire time, he couldn't get a look at her face.
Yet, even from a distance, he could tell she was a stunning woman. She possessed a quiet, elegant aura. At first glance, she actually reminded him a little bit of Willow.
Interesting. She looked so soft and delicate, yet her reputation suggested a spine of steel. He was already itching to meet her properly. But he was stuck on stage, unable to do anything but watch from afar.
Around eleven o'clock, the formal portion of the summit concluded. The three-hour event wrapped up its scheduled presentations, transitioning into an open networking session where attendees could freely mingle.
Because Julian had completely stolen the spotlight during his speech, a swarm of people immediately rushed over to him. Trapped in the crowd, he instructed his assistant to go introduce himself to the Merit VP first, promising to join them shortly.
The assistant did as told. Being a new hire, he didn't recognize Willow and had no idea about her history with Sinclair Group. He simply approached her with a standard, polite greeting and conveyed Julian's request for a meeting.
