The assistant didn't dare waste a second and immediately hurried off, only to return with the news that their target hadn't arrived yet. He quickly relayed this update to Julian Sinclair.
Julian scoffed at the report. For someone to be this late, they clearly had quite the ego.
Meanwhile, word of his arrival had spread, and several attendees approached him with business cards in hand. Many were current partners of Sinclair Group. This was a business setting, after all, and no matter how much Julian looked down on them privately, he still had to keep up appearances.
Within moments, he was surrounded by a crowd, leaving him no time to dwell on anything else.
On the other side of the city, the reason Willow Horgan hadn't arrived yet was that her car had broken down. She had been stranded on the side of the road for half an hour. She had initially thought it would be a quick fix, but the issue still hadn't been resolved.
Arthur Vance had arranged both the car and the driver. When he found out she was attending the Global Bio-Innovation Summit, he had insisted on handling the logistics. At first, Willow had declined, feeling it was unnecessary. She could easily catch a cab and didn't want to tie up company resources.
But Arthur had been adamant, arguing that it was standard protocol. Given her executive level, having a dedicated driver for conferences not only facilitated her work but also upheld the firm's prestigious image.
There was an even more crucial reason Arthur hadn't mentioned: if Silas Thorne ever found out Willow had gone to a summit alone without a company car, he would have been furious. Silas had already given strict orders that all of her travel, meals, and accommodations were to be arranged at the absolute highest standard.
Since Arthur had put it that way, Willow couldn't really argue. She just hadn't expected to run into car trouble along the way.
