Looking at the fresh bowls in front of them, Willow couldn't even begin to untangle the knot of emotions in her chest. Awkwardness? Confusion? Disbelief? It all crashed into her at once, leaving her utterly speechless.
And right on cue, Silas casually picked up his spoon. "Why did you stop? I thought you were craving risotto."
Willow desperately wanted to ask him: If there was an entire pot in the kitchen, why on earth did you eat off my plate first?
But the words died in her throat. Whatever. It was his jet, his food, his rules. Besides, he had just returned the favor by making sure she got a fresh bowl, hadn't he?
Deciding it was safer not to dig any deeper, Willow focused on her food. The risotto really was phenomenal, leaving her little brain space to obsess over his actions anyway.
While they were comfortably indulging in their five-star meal at thirty thousand feet, Vivienne was living a nightmare, crammed into a tiny economy seat staring down at a sad, pre-packaged airline meal.
When the flight attendant handed it to her, Vivienne took one sniff, wrinkled her nose in disgust, and snapped, "Take it away! Get this out of my face! Is this supposed to be food? It smells like garbage!"
Her loud, abrasive outburst immediately drew the ire of the surrounding passengers, who didn't hesitate to fire back.
"Who do you think you are? What do you mean 'is this supposed to be food'? Are the rest of us eating garbage?"
