The second the plane finally landed, Vivienne shoved her way down the aisle, practically sprinting off the aircraft. She bumped into several passengers, ignoring their irritated glares and muttered complaints. She didn't care. If she had stayed in that cramped, suffocating tube for one more second, she felt she might actually die.
Her mood was already incredibly foul, but as she stepped out into the terminal, she spotted a private jet parked on the tarmac in the distance. Instantly, a wave of bitter jealousy washed over her.
She recognized it immediately—The Gulfstream G650ER, the absolute gold standard of ultra-long-range business jets, the undisputed 'King of the Sky'. Julian had desperately wanted one a while back, but the astronomical price tag had forced him to back down. He had been sulking about it for weeks.
Because of that, Vivienne knew instantly that whoever owned this jet possessed a level of wealth and power that was practically untouchable.
Smoothing down her clothes, she quickly pulled a designer lipstick from her purse, touched up her makeup, and began swaying her hips, preparing to strut over and see who it was.
She knew exactly where she stood these days. Julian was clearly pulling away from her, and Toby was a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow up in her face. Before the inevitable fallout, she needed to secure a new, powerful safety net.
But her grand plan was shattered before she even took her third step. Because the man stepping off the stairs of the multi-million-dollar jet was none other than Silas Thorne.
If it had just been him, she would have still tried her luck. Men were all the same, and she knew she was beautiful. She refused to believe Silas would be entirely immune to her charms.
But it wasn't Silas that made her freeze in her tracks. It was the woman walking right behind him: Willow.
For a split second, Vivienne couldn't believe her own eyes.
Was there no justice in the world? What kind of CEO treated an employee like this? Not only did he let her fly on his personal private jet, but he was literally hovering beside her as she walked down the stairs, treating her like she was made of glass.
