Beyond the warm atmosphere, Willow noticed something else: every man in the Thorne family was extraordinarily attentive to his wife.
Arthur Thorne, despite his advanced age, spent the entire meal carefully serving food and soup to Beatrice. Alistair was the same; throughout the dinner, Willow watched him meticulously cater to Jocelyn's every need.
He removed the bones from her fish, peeled her shrimp, and even carefully picked out the peppercorns and garlic from the vegetables before placing them on her plate. Had she not witnessed it with her own eyes, she would never have believed that a man who commanded absolute authority in the brutal corporate world could be so profoundly tender and meticulous in his personal life.
While she was still marveling at this, Silas placed a piece of fish on her plate. Just like his father, he had flawlessly removed every tiny bone. "Eat carefully," he instructed softly. "I tried to get them all, but there might still be a stray bone."
Willow nodded her thanks, realizing that this level of devotion and character was clearly a deeply ingrained family trait. She was merely his subordinate right now, and he was already treating her with such care. She couldn't even imagine how incredibly he would treat his future wife.
Halfway through the meal, Jocelyn accidentally swallowed a piece of chili and coughed twice. Alistair immediately poured her a glass of water and gently patted her back.
Beatrice watched with concern. "What's wrong, Jo-Jo? Are you alright?"
While ensuring Jocelyn drank the water, Alistair smoothly took the blame. "She's fine. It's my fault for not picking the chilies out properly, she just accidentally bit into one. I'll be more careful next time."
By now, Willow was completely desensitized to their extreme displays of affection; nothing could surprise her anymore. However, she was suddenly hyper-aware of the name Beatrice had just used.
'Jo-Jo.'
A nickname that sounded suspiciously familiar. She had seen the name 'Jocelyn' light up Silas's phone screen countless times.
Curiosity getting the better of her, she turned to Silas and asked directly, "What is your mother's full name?"
"Jocelyn."
Jocelyn?
