In reality, Silas couldn't care less about the interviews. If Willow wanted to hire them, they were hired. He would back her decisions blindly. Throwing the interviews out there was nothing more than a calculated excuse to secure a reason to see her.
Predictably, the bait worked. Willow didn't shoot him down immediately, falling silent as she weighed the logistics. She had considered suggesting a local interview before but was worried it was an overstep or that Silas would find it inconvenient. She hadn't expected him to volunteer.
"Are you sure that's appropriate?"
Hearing the hesitation in her voice, Silas knew he had won. He locked it in. "Perfectly appropriate. It's efficient. It's settled. Just call me when you guys are almost done."
He hung up before she could formulate a counterargument.
Staring at her phone, Willow shrugged. He had a point. If it needed to be done, they might as well do it now.
She thought about giving Leo a heads-up so the team could mentally prepare, but her car was already pulling up to the location. She decided to just break the news in person.
They had agreed to meet at The Daily Grind, a cozy spot not far from the Sinclair Group's local branch. By the time Willow walked in, Leo was already seated at a table. He jumped to his feet the second he saw her, his mouth opening and closing like a goldfish as he stared at her in utter disbelief.
Willow broke the silence first. "What's wrong? It's only been a few months. Have you forgotten what I look like?"
Hearing her familiar voice snapped Leo out of his trance. "Boss?" he asked tentatively.
