Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 340

"A great guy?" Leo looked at her like she had grown a second head. "Boss, have you read the news? He's the Cold King. Hell's Reaper. The man is notoriously ruthless."

Unlike Willow, Leo was a Seattle native who kept his ear to the ground regarding the global tech elite. The Thorne family name commanded absolute terror in certain circles. Silas Thorne was essentially a corporate deity; just whispering his name was enough to make rival executives break out in a cold sweat.

Plus, Leo had actually caught a glimpse of Silas at an industry gala a few years back. Even from across a massive ballroom, the man's lethal, predatory aura had permanently burned itself into Leo's brain.

Seeing him look like he was about to faint, Willow sighed inwardly. This wasn't the first time she had to run PR for Silas's terrifying reputation.

She offered the same defense she always used. "Those are just exaggerated rumors. Don't let the media hype get in your head. You'll see when he gets here, he's actually surprisingly easy to get along with."

She quickly added a vital warning. "Oh, and whatever you do, do not call me 'Boss' in front of him. It's wildly unprofessional."

Leo nodded rapidly. 'Boss' was a gritty, rebellious title they had coined while surviving the trenches of the Sinclair Group. In a pristine corporate empire like Merit Biotech, it would sound like they were running a cartel. Plus, it carried a heavy emotional weight. He wanted Willow to shed that burden; if they joined Merit, they would be her equals in the fight, not her dependents.

"One more thing," Willow continued. "If Merit hires you, the entire team will need to relocate to New York for the initial rollout. We don't have a strict timeline yet, it depends entirely on how fast the project moves. You need to be completely sure about this. Even if you request a transfer back to Seattle, you'll be looking at a year or two minimum."

Leo didn't even blink. "Done. We already talked about this. To get into the number one firm in the world and keep working under you? One year, two years, five years, who cares? We'll eventually make it back."
