Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 355

Vivienne seized the perfect opening. "Mom, please don't be mad at Julian. It's my fault. I messed up at work."

"A few employees quit, so what? Why is he blowing it so out of proportion? With the way he's acting, people would think the Sinclair Group is going bankrupt just because a handful of staff walked out," Susannah shot back, waving a dismissive hand.

Her tone was laced with absolute contempt. She patted Vivienne reassuringly on the shoulder. "Go downstairs for a bit. I need a private word with Julian."

That was exactly the dismissal Vivienne had been praying for. Relieved of her burden, she immediately headed downstairs. Since someone else was stepping into the ring for her, she didn't need to keep up the exhausting performance.

Once Vivienne was gone, Susannah cut straight to the chase. "I heard those employees used to work under Willow. Honestly, it's a blessing they're gone. Keeping them around would have been a ticking time bomb anyway."

Julian wasn't blind to that angle, but the operational reality was entirely different. "We already have a severe shortage of talent in the gene-editing division. They were the only ones holding it together, and now they're all gone. Have you stopped to consider what's going to happen to our ongoing projects?"

"What's going to happen? You hire new people. What else?" Susannah sneered, genuinely bewildered that he viewed this as a crisis. In her world, problems were solved by throwing money at them. There were millions of desperate people out there; all they had to do was dangle the bait, and the masses would swarm.

"If they don't want the jobs, someone else will. As long as the salary is right, I refuse to believe you won't find replacements."

Julian shook his head, thoroughly disagreeing. "You don't understand this industry. Do you have any idea how rare specialized talent is in this field? Recruiting one or two experts is difficult enough. Trying to replace an entire high-level team simultaneously is not as simple as you think."

"Simple or not, and how you recruit them—that's your job as the CEO. You cannot dump the blame on Vivienne."
