Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 431

For some reason, her throat tightened the moment she heard his voice.

Willow pushed her weak body off the bed and shuffled over to open the door. As it swung open, she was met with Silas's deep, worry-filled gaze.

Silas immediately took in her pale, haggard face and the faint dark circles under her eyes. She looked so fragile that a strong gust of wind could knock her over. It felt as if a hand had reached into his chest and squeezed his heart, leaving him breathless with a suffocating ache.

The two had been caught in a standoff lately, making the sudden reunion feel slightly tense.

"What's wrong?" Silas broke the silence.

"I have a slight fever," Willow replied.

"Did you take any medicine?"

"Yes."

"Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"No."

"Are you in a lot of pain?"

"I'm okay."

"Have you eaten?"

"No."

After the rapid-fire questions, Silas told her to get back into bed while he headed straight for the kitchen with practiced familiarity.

Before long, the comforting aroma of warm chicken soup drifted through the apartment.

Silas patiently let the soup simmer until it was rich and hearty, carefully cooling it to the perfect temperature before bringing a bowl to her bedside.

He pulled up a chair, clearly intending to feed her.

Willow felt a wave of embarrassment and leaned back. "You don't have to do that. I can feed myself."

Silas ignored her protest, stubbornly holding the spoon. "Open up."

He hadn't expected her to initiate a hug. It took him a long moment to relax. His long fingers hesitated in the air before finally resting gently against her back, wrapping around her with a careful tenderness, as if he were holding something incredibly precious and fragile.

Unfortunately, the embrace lasted only a fleeting second before she pulled away.

Silas desperately wanted to hold on, but he had serious matters to address. "Don't celebrate just yet. I agreed, but I have a few conditions."

"No problem. Name them," Willow said, still riding the high of her excitement.

"First, I'm sending an escort team with you. They won't interfere with your work, but they are there to guarantee your safety."

"Second, you will report your whereabouts and physical condition to me every morning, noon, and night. You must text me that you are safe every single evening."

"Third, absolutely no wandering into remote or dangerous areas alone. Any last-minute itinerary changes must be cleared with the security team I provide."

"Fourth, the moment the study concludes, you return immediately. No lingering around."

It was a long list of demands, but knowing he was actually letting her go, Willow didn't mind in the slightest. She immediately promised, "Don't worry, I can do all of that."
