Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 439

The crew went dead silent out of sheer terror. No one dared to utter a single sound, forced to endure the vile stench as they kept their heads down and trudged the rest of the way in misery.

When they finally dragged themselves back to the Mayor's house, Vivienne couldn't wait another second. She bolted straight for the bathroom. She stood under the scalding shower, scrubbing her skin raw, but the suffocating stench of manure felt permanently etched into her pores, impossible to wash away.

She rubbed frantically, turning her skin burning red, nearly scrubbing off a layer of flesh before finally stopping. The smell still lingered. She was trembling uncontrollably with absolute rage.

She had braved a torrential storm and climbed a treacherous mountain, only to be subjected to this? She would never, ever let this go.

Just then, her phone rang loudly. It was Jayden.

Vivienne took a few deep breaths, forcing the violent hysteria down her throat. Suppressing the raging fire in her chest, she answered, "Hello."

Jayden was simply calling for a status update, firing off a barrage of questions that only made her want to scream.

Gritting her teeth, she forced a calm tone. "Tell Mr. Smith that everything is progressing perfectly. We met with the family today, and the communication went incredibly smoothly. I will visit them again tomorrow. Just wait for my signal to bring the team up."

Even though her lie was seamless, Jayden felt something was off. "Are you sure you're okay?"

Vivienne nearly snapped her phone in half. Okay? How could she possibly be okay?

She had endured more suffering today than in her entire life combined. She had been drenched in literal manure! Did she sound okay?!
