Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 469

Hearing this, Willow and Leo felt a suffocating wave of despair and helplessness, but there was absolutely nothing they could do.

They knew perfectly well that Garrett was only acting this way out of pure, desperate love for his son.

Having spent his entire life caring for a child with a rare, devastating illness, his only driving force was keeping his boy safe. He couldn't afford a single risk, utterly terrified of exposing his already fragile son to anything toxic.

The sheer weight of that clumsy but overwhelming fatherly love left them without the right—or the heart—to argue.

Leo stepped forward and gave a polite nod, his voice steady and restrained as he made one last attempt. "We completely understand your concerns, but it would be such a shame to throw away this opportunity..."

Before he could finish, a group of men swaggered down the alley and surrounded them. They were the local thugs—young, arrogant punks notorious for loafing around and causing trouble.

Crossing their arms, they glared at Willow and Leo with overt hostility and disgust, their faces twisted with aggression. "Get the hell out! We don't want you in our town!"

"Yeah! Walking around pulling this shady bullshit with your twisted agendas! Have you got no shame dragging a sick kid into this?"

"Don't you dare infect our kids with your filth! Get the hell out of here!"

The vile, degrading insults rained down on them, punctuated by sneers of contempt that poisoned the air.

Furious, Leo stepped forward to fight them, but Willow grabbed his arm, yanking him back. They were completely out of their element in hostile territory; provoking a brawl was a suicide mission. Plus, the guys were clearly looking for blood, and if things got physical, Willow and Leo would be the ones leaving in body bags.

Leo gritted his teeth, forced to choke down his rage.
