"I'm just worried about you," Willow repeated. "So many things tangled together, time and time again. You've done so much for me, and I'm terrified this is going to drag you down."
Hearing those words, the tension holding Silas's heart hostage finally snapped. The lingering gloom in his eyes vanished entirely, replaced by a soft, spreading warmth.
He reached out, gently smoothing her hair. When he spoke, his tone held its usual unshakable composure, backed by absolute confidence. "Vivienne Sinclair is nothing. She couldn't affect me in the slightest. You don't need to worry about me."
Willow still frowned, the anxiety in her chest refusing to settle. She offered a serious warning. "But she has the Sinclair Group behind her, and Julian. The Sinclair family has deep roots in New York City, and Julian is fiercely protective of his own. If you cross them, it's bound to cause you endless trouble down the line."
Silas let out a low chuckle. His gaze was perfectly relaxed, exuding an effortless arrogance. "So what? I've never considered the Sinclair Group a threat."
Suddenly, as if a sour thought had crossed his mind, his brow furrowed. "Unless... you still have lingering feelings for him?"
That question struck Willow's absolute bottom line. She scowled instantly, her eyes flashing with unmistakable disgust and coldness. Her answer was sharp and decisive. "How could I? I feel nothing but revulsion for him."
If she had her way, she would gladly go the rest of her life without ever laying eyes on him again. She couldn't care less if he lived or died, let alone harbor any lingering affection.
Seeing the raw, unfiltered loathing in her eyes, Silas's mood instantly soared. The more she despised Julian, the happier he felt.
He knew his own mindset was terribly twisted and possessive, but he simply couldn't help it.
People always called him ruthless, a man with unfathomable depths, but only he knew the truth. When it came to Willow, he was paranoid, greedy, and constantly terrified of losing her.
He even harbored the selfish hope that she would sever ties with Julian completely and irrevocably. Only then could his heart find true peace and soaring joy.
