Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 512

Although Julian and Vivienne had left the mountain much earlier, commercial flight schedules meant they actually touched down in New York slightly after Willow's private jet.

Stepping off the plane, both of them were preoccupied with their own simmering frustrations, their expressions sour.

Needing Julian's leverage, Vivienne swallowed her pride and spoke first. "Julian, I need to go to the hospital for a check-up. Will you come with me? I'm scared to go alone."

Julian kept walking at a brisk pace, not even sparing her a glance. "Scared of what? You survived the mountain, the drive, and a cross-country flight just fine. You're overthinking it. Besides, I have a critical meeting I cannot miss."

Vivienne's fingernails dug into her palms. She pushed back, unwilling to let it go. "Can't you push the meeting back just a little? I'm genuinely in pain. I kept it to myself on the way back because I didn't want you to worry."

"I'm not a doctor. If you're in pain, go to the hospital," Julian replied, his tone as solid as a brick wall. "If there's an actual problem, call Mom and Dad. They have more free time than I do."

"Fine." Realizing it was a lost cause, Vivienne had no choice but to drop it. A toxic brew of resentment and bitterness boiled in her chest, but she had to force it down.

Since the hospital was owned by the Sinclair Group, Vivienne was treated like royalty. The specialists gave her a comprehensive workup and confirmed there was no major internal damage. However, when the doctors requested she undress for a more thorough examination to check for deep-tissue trauma, Vivienne vehemently refused. "That's not necessary. Skip it."

Her entire body tensed, and panic bled into her voice as she instinctively shrank back into the examination chair.

Annoyed by their presence, Vivienne ordered the entire medical team out of the room. She needed silence to think. Yes, she was back in New York, but her problems were piling up.

Her calculated act playing the victim hadn't fully convinced Julian. On top of that, by leaving the conference early, she had completely lost her shot at re-entering Mr. Smith's core project team. And then there was Willow—she had no idea if Willow was going to keep coming for her, especially now that Willow clearly had powerful backing...

Nothing was resolved. Her entire life felt like a tangled mess.

Just as she was spiraling, the door swung open. Vivienne's heart leapt, hoping Julian had changed his mind and come back for her. But her excitement died the moment she saw Susannah walking in, holding Toby by the hand. A wave of exhaustion and disgust hit her. She had a mountain of crises to solve, and now she had to deal with this.
