The sleek car descended into the underground parking garage of Merit Biotech. Despite the overwhelming warmth in her chest, Willow forced herself to pull her emotions together. No one at the office knew about their relationship yet.
They had agreed to keep it under wraps to avoid office gossip interfering with their work. Though Silas hated the idea of hiding her, he had compromised for her sake. He gave her fingers a reluctant squeeze. "Alright. We play by your rules. But make sure you come to my office at noon. I ordered your favorite truffle pasta for lunch."
"Okay," Willow nodded softly. Checking to make sure the garage was empty, she leaned in, pressed a fleeting kiss to his lips, grabbed her bag, and slipped out of the car.
The moment she was out of sight, the tender devotion on Silas’s face vanished, replaced by the chilling, ruthless demeanor of the corporate predator he was. Gentleness was a privilege reserved solely for Willow.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Arthur Vance. "Is Julian Sinclair still lurking outside her apartment?"
Arthur was quick and efficient. "Yes, Mr. Thorne. I've been monitoring the situation. He hasn't left. It looks like he's determined to ambush Ms. Horgan."
"He just doesn't know when to quit, does he?" Silas’s lips curled into a glacial, mocking smirk, though his dark eyes burned with lethal intent.
Julian had crossed the line too many times—harassing Willow, hurting her, refusing to let go. If the man wanted to play with fire, Silas was going to burn his entire world to the ground.
He issued a cold, bloodless command. "Dig up everything on Julian Sinclair. His connections, his offshore accounts, the blackmail material. Every dirty secret his family has ever buried. I want it all."
This time, he was going to rip the Sinclair family out by the roots.
Within minutes, Arthur sent over a heavily encrypted file. Silas scrolled through the evidence. He saw the proof of Julian and Vivienne Sinclair conspiring to drug Willow. He read the transcripts of Julian's elite friends publicly humiliating and bullying her. He saw the detailed accounts of the psychological abuse and cold neglect the Sinclair family had subjected her to throughout her marriage. Every single detail shattered the last remnants of Silas’s restraint.
Originally, he had planned to just send Julian to prison and let him rot.
Now, he changed his mind.
Prison was too easy. It was far too merciful.
Silas’s eyes darkened into endless abysses. "I want the Sinclair Group destroyed," he ordered. "And take down the Sterling Group with them for enabling it. Liquidate everything. Strip them of their wealth, their status, their network, and their dignity. Drag them from their penthouses and throw them into the gutter. And ensure that for the rest of their miserable lives, they never step foot within a fifty-mile radius of Willow."
...
Within days, a catastrophic financial earthquake shook New York City’s elite circles.
The Sinclair Group’s supply chains abruptly collapsed. Partners severed ties overnight, banks froze their assets, and their stock prices plummeted into oblivion. The century-old Sinclair empire filed for bankruptcy in a matter of hours.
