Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 128

Seraphina's fingernails dug fiercely into the teacup, completely stripped of any dignity to stay. "Mr. Jarrett is right. I was entirely at fault..."

Dominic was utterly immune to her fragile, victim routine. He tapped his knuckles against the table and delivered a merciless final blow.

"Work isn't a stage play. Don't treat everyone here like a fool."

He practically told her to drop the pathetic act to her face.

One of the maids couldn't hold back and let out a snicker.

Seraphina was so mortified she wished the ground would swallow her whole.

She had never anticipated Dominic's tongue being so lethally sharp, nor him being so utterly unforgiving.

She choked out a humiliated response, spun on her heel, and practically bolted away like a startled duck. It was beyond pathetic.

Dominic, completely indifferent to her emotional breakdown, calmly selected a fresh cup, poured himself a new serving of tea, and leisurely enjoyed the blend.

Having witnessed the entire spectacle, Clara couldn't help but steal another glance at him.

It turned out that not all men fell for the same cheap tricks.

Sensing her gaze with predatory sharpness, Dominic looked back. His dark eyes were intense, carrying a heavy, probing weight.

Caught staring, Clara felt a rush of heat to her cheeks. She quickly looked away, pretending to be deeply fascinated by the blooming wintersweets in the garden across from them.

Beside them, Phoebe noticed their subtle, electric micro-interactions and hid a knowing smile behind her teacup.

But Seraphina, lurking in the distance, missed nothing. Her hands curled into furious fists at her sides, her darkened gaze sweeping over the vast expanse of the wintersweet arboretum.

Under the bright winter sun, the group resumed their project discussion.

When it came to work, Clara was fiercely dedicated. Her focused, professional demeanor gave her a magnetic, undeniable charm.

Sipping his tea, Dominic found his gaze lingering on her for a few extra seconds.

...

An hour later, the business discussions wrapped up.

Clara had done a lot of talking and was just reaching for her tea when her phone buzzed against the table.

It was Julian calling.

Her eyes darkened. She had absolutely no desire to speak to him and prepared to decline the call.

Hearing the vibration, Phoebe looked over. Assuming Clara was just being polite, she smiled warmly. "It's perfectly fine, our business is concluded. Go ahead and take your call. We wouldn't want to hold up anything important."

Since Phoebe had essentially given her an out, Clara couldn't refuse. She offered a polite smile, murmured a quick thanks, and stepped away with her phone.

She completely missed the intense gaze tracking her every move.

Dominic rubbed the rim of his cup.

He had seen Julian's name flash on her screen.
