Oh, God...
Clara was so embarrassed she wished the ground would swallow her whole. Two patches of crimson gradually spread across her delicate face.
Too embarrassed to even look at him, she lowered her head and softly greeted, "Mr. Jarrett..."
Then, she fled toward the dining room.
Dominic took in all her embarrassment and couldn't help but curl his lips.
But in the next instant, remembering that they had just been arguing over Julian Lowell, his smile vanished.
He felt inexplicably irritated.
Thinking about how his calm demeanor had been disrupted several times today,
He grew even more irritated.
He glanced into the restroom, his gaze darkening slightly. Then, he stepped forward to catch up with her and entered the dining room. The smile from earlier was completely gone, replaced by a chilling aura...
Some things needed to be cut off before losses mounted.
She was not Sarah West.
...
In the restroom.
The door opened and closed.
Seraphina still stood frozen in place. It took her a long time to snap back to reality, but her complexion remained poor.
Clara's words, "be careful not to crash and burn," were like a sharp thorn piercing fiercely into her heart.
Because she was indeed worried that Julian might no longer love her, and she was certainly afraid... that Julian would discover she wasn't the little girl from back then, but someone who had falsely claimed the credit.
Since the day Julian left her hospital room, these two concerns had lingered in her mind, refusing to dissipate!
She was truly afraid.
She was afraid of falling back into the mud... the beatings and scoldings from her drunkard father, the disdainful looks from those around her, the destitution of having no money. She never wanted to suffer through that again!
A gust of cold wind blew in from the window. Seraphina couldn't help but shiver, hugging herself tightly.
"Ms. Shaw, are you done? Dinner is ready to be served," a servant knocked on the door to remind her.
Seraphina snapped back to reality, raising a hand to touch her cheek before responding.
"Okay, I'll be right out..."
"Mhm." The servant left.
Seraphina washed her hands once more before leaving.
She reasoned that the family from back then had already left. Julian definitely wouldn't be able to find out; if he could, he would have found out years ago.
Besides, he had recently helped her fight for a competition spot, which clearly meant he loved her.
She shouldn't be worrying.
