Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 146

A chill ran down Clara's spine.

But right now, she had no choice but to agree. She forced a twitch of her lips, her fingers gripping the edge of the table tightly. "Fine, let's talk."

Officer Jenkins stood aside, waiting.

After a polite nod, Lester sat on the stool opposite Clara, pulled a contract from his pocket, and slid it toward her, speaking with impeccable courtesy.

"Ms. Vance, because of you, Ms. Shaw has suffered immense physical and psychological harm. However, considering you two worked together for some time, her intention is to avoid taking this to court..."

Listening to these words twisting black into white, Clara felt utterly disgusted and cut him off coldly. "Skip the hypocritical nonsense. Who would believe that?"

Lester paused, maintaining his polite smile. "Then I'll be direct. Ms. Shaw's proposal is that you apologize to her at tomorrow's press conference. As long as you apologize, the lawsuit will be dropped."

Heh...

Clara almost laughed out of sheer anger.

How magnanimous.

She hadn't done anything, yet she was being forced to apologize.

"Is this Julian's idea, or Seraphina's?"

Lester froze for a second.

But Clara had figured it out.

It was Seraphina's idea, and Julian had indulgently agreed to it!

He hadn't considered her situation at all.

Clara took a deep breath, nodding as her eyes slowly rimmed red. In that moment, she didn't know whether she should lament her own sorrow or marvel at the man's heartlessness.

But it didn't matter anymore!

Clara closed her eyes, exhaling deeply. When she opened them again, she directly tore the contract to pieces and threw them forcefully at Lester.

"Go back and tell them I will never apologize. If they want to sue me, I'll take them on. I will also be present at tomorrow's press conference."

Lester hissed, thinking she had lost her mind. He stood up, brushed the paper shreds off his suit, and, not bothering to waste another word on her, dropped a cold sentence:

"I hope you'll still have this backbone when you face the reporters and media tomorrow!"

He left.

Clara, however, was exceptionally calm—calmer than she had ever been before.

Officer Jenkins couldn't bear it any longer. "Ms. Vance, you might not realize, but the evidence is already clear, and public opinion online is entirely against you..."

Clara knew what she was trying to say: apologizing was better than fighting a lawsuit.

Dominic Jarrett...

Clara was astonished. To think he would help her...

Hearing this, Officer Jenkins couldn't say anything more. She unlocked Clara's handcuffs and led her out.

As Clara walked out of the police station doors, the bleak winter wind blew around her. At a glance, she spotted the man leaning against his Maybach on the side of the street, smoking a cigarette... Over his suit, he wore a black overcoat. He looked strikingly handsome and imposing, exuding a strong sense of distance in the night, yet inexplicably bringing warmth to people's hearts.

When suspected, interrogated, and sent to the police station by Julian, she didn't cry.

When framed by Seraphina and slashed with a knife, she didn't cry either.

But at this moment, she suddenly wanted to cry, her nose stinging intensely. She hadn't expected that the one who would ultimately help her was a man with whom she only had a nodding acquaintance.

Noticing her gaze, Dominic crushed his cigarette end and raised his eyes to look at her, his gaze profound.

After a long moment, his thin lips parted. "Get in. I'll take you back."

Then he turned and opened the car door for her.

Clara's eyes grew hot. Suppressing the urge to cry, she took several deep breaths before walking over, hoarsely thanking him before bending down to get into the car...

Dominic noticed the wound on her arm. His eyes darkened as he bent down to sit beside her, closing the car door.
