Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 221

Toby Marsh knew his boss was going to check on Clara Vance, and he let out a soft sigh, marveling at the man's silent sacrifices.

He had followed his boss around the hospital all morning. Chase Colter's condition wasn't good; if it worsened, he could be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life. Dominic Jarrett didn't care about Chase, but he knew if Chase died, Clara would go down with him. So, his boss pulled every string he had, gathering renowned specialists for a consultation and surgical plan.

Just as they finished, without even a moment to catch their breath, they learned the news had leaked. Cassandra Colter had gone after Clara, and the situation had escalated to the police station.

Terrified for Clara, his boss rushed over immediately.

But Clara knew absolutely none of this...

Snapping out of his thoughts as he saw his boss exit the station from the corner of his eye, Toby pressed a button to pop the car door open.

Dominic Jarrett's expression was unreadable. Getting in, he loosened his Windsor knot and ordered flatly, "To the Colters'."

Toby froze for a second. Guessing what his boss was about to do, he instinctively tried to stop him. "Mr. Jarrett, his father is a high-ranking official. Your power is mostly based in Somerset. Here in Capital City, it's best not to clash head-on..."

It wasn't out of fear, it was just unnecessary.

Dominic nonchalantly brushed off his pant leg. "Just drive."

Hearing this, Toby knew better than to argue and steered the car toward the Colter estate.

Dominic leaned back and closed his eyes. His mind flashed back to the sight of Clara locked in the interrogation room. She didn't look well; she was clearly terrified.

His heart ached for her.

If he couldn't protect her, what kind of man was he?

...

The Colter Estate.

Since Chase was currently receiving secret medical treatment and reporters were swarming outside, the family had no choice but to hole up at home.

Alistair Colter sat heavily on the sofa, chain-smoking one cigarette after another. He was furious, but he was also heartbroken!

After all, this was his own flesh and blood, the only son of the Colter family!

Miriam Colter hadn't stopped crying, her eyes swollen red.

Cassandra supported her mother. She was miserable too, but she forced herself to stay strong, gently wiping her mother's tears.
