Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 73

The window rolled down, revealing Leo Miller's handsome face.

"Clara? It's freezing out. Why are you out here alone?"

Clara paused at his voice. When she looked over, her eyes were still slightly red. "Leo..."

Noticing her upset state, Leo frowned. "Have you been crying?"

"No, no... it's just the cold." Clara pursed her lips, lowering her head to wipe the redness from the corners of her eyes, unwilling to discuss it. She stepped closer to the car. "I was heading to the hospital but couldn't get a cab... By the way, what are you doing here?"

Leo looked at her quietly for a few seconds, ultimately not having the heart to expose her lie. "I'm heading to a business dinner. Hop in, the hospital is on my way. I'll drop you off." He leaned over and opened the passenger door for her.

Clara smiled. "Then I won't be polite!"

"..."

In the distance, Julian hadn't left at all. He was parked further down the road. Through his windshield, he watched Clara get into another man's car. He watched her smile brightly at another man. Unconsciously, he gripped the steering wheel tighter.

Then, his phone rang again.

Arthur: "Mr. Lowell, Ms. Shaw..."

Julian frowned. "I'll be right there." Taking one last look at Clara, he finally withdrew his gaze and drove off in the opposite direction.

Still, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of discomfort. He did feel somewhat guilty... But he figured her sister wouldn't be discharged anytime soon; he could always make it up to her later. However, why did she repeatedly remind him to look at the things on his desk? Was that dossier so urgent?

Leo dropped Clara off at the hospital. Before leaving, he asked, "Have you sorted out your resignation? When are you coming to the new company?"
