Clara pressed her lips together, at a loss for words for a moment.
If it were before, she would have been thrilled to receive such an expensive gift from him, treating it like a treasure.
But now...
There was no time to think.
The next moment.
Two knocks sounded on the office door.
Seraphina Shaw's voice slowly drifted in.
"Manager Vance, it's almost time for our business meeting. How much longer are you going to dawdle? If this delays our partnership, can you take responsibility?"
Clara frowned. It wasn't hard to catch the passive-aggressive tone.
But time was indeed tight.
Without sparing another glance at the gifts, she put her phone away, hurriedly packed the documents into her bag, and walked out.
On her way, she couldn't resist looking back several times at the boxes of exquisite collectibles on her desk.
Yet, when she pushed the door open and saw the necklace resting around Seraphina's neck, she froze.
It was as if she had been paralyzed, her eyes locked dead onto that pink diamond necklace...
Noticing her stare, Seraphina looked down at the necklace on her chest and cast Clara a disdainful look.
"Julian won this for me at the auction. It's the only one of its kind in the entire Capital City! Gorgeous, isn't it?"
Julian bought it for her.
Then what was the identical pink diamond necklace he had left on her desk?
Clara frowned. A sudden realization struck her, draining all the color from her face.
She rushed back into her office like a madwoman, took the necklace out of the box, and examined it closely. Only then did she notice flaws in the piece, and the craftsmanship was subpar...
It was clearly a fake!
Clara's hands trembled, her heart instantly sinking to the very bottom.
She bit her bloodless lips and picked up the other collectibles to inspect them.
