Hearing the door open, Harvey Crane looked up. His gaze lingered on Clara for a moment before shifting to Seraphina behind her.
After a few seconds, he straightened up and greeted them.
"Manager Vance, long time no see! Mr. Crawford had some urgent matters today and couldn't make it, so he sent me to liaise with you."
Clara pressed her lips together. Given the situation, she couldn't object.
She had worked with Harvey a few times before, and the experiences were never pleasant. This man was dishonest, a notorious creep in their circle. When she first entered the industry, she had suffered a few losses at his hands.
Perhaps because he never managed to get his hands on her, he clung to her like a rabid dog whenever he had the chance.
But right now, no matter how dissatisfied she was, she couldn't kick him out.
"Yes, long time no see." Forcing down her disgust, she walked up and gave him a brief, perfunctory handshake, pulling away instantly.
Harvey rubbed his palm but didn't cross the line. He looked at Seraphina standing behind Clara and raised an eyebrow.
"And this is?"
Seraphina smiled gracefully, "Hello, Mr. Crane. I am the chief designer for this project, Seraphina Shaw."
Harvey nodded, "Chief designer, huh? Haven't heard of you before."
He looked toward Clara.
Still disgusted by Seraphina's earlier behavior, Clara stated flatly, "She joined the company recently. It's normal you haven't heard of her."
Seraphina interrupted, "Rest assured, Mr. Crane. Although I'm new, my capabilities are absolutely proven."
Harvey chuckled, "Good."
Clara didn't bother saying more. After wrapping up this meeting, she wouldn't be managing anything anyway.
"..."
After a few pleasantries, they began discussing the project. Everything went relatively smoothly.
Midway, Clara rang the bell for the waiters to serve food and drinks. Alcohol was inevitable in such settings.
Clara had a few glasses.
Seraphina drank quite a bit as well.
Seeing Clara finish a glass, Harvey deliberately used the project as an excuse to pour her another.
"Manager Vance, regarding this project..."
Right at that moment.
A phone started ringing.
Clara's phone.
Harvey frowned in displeasure.
Seraphina also glanced over.
Clara smiled faintly, picked up her phone, and stood.
"Excuse me, Mr. Crane. I have a minor work matter to attend to. Let me just take this."
