Ticket for Cheating novel Chapter 1

Chapter 1

My husband failed his driving test for TWO YEARS.

One morning, ten minutes before my shift, my clingy-ass husband texted me:

“Babe, heading to driving school. Gonna be MIA for two hours-gotta focus on practice! Love you ?”

Then I was on patrol and spotted a car parked illegally, bouncing like a damn trampoline.

I flipped on my body cam and walked over.

As I got closer, I heard skin slapping.

“Oh God-babe-DON’T STOP! YES!”

A man grunting. “Yeah? You want more, babe?”

Just as I was about to knock on the window-

I saw the man’s hand pressed against the fogged glass.

The ring on his finger. UNMISTAKABLE.

I had it custom-made with my hubby’s initials.

Well done, Nathan fucking Hartley. Looks like your “driving school” really taught you how to RIDE!

That moment, my brain just shut down.

I pulled out my phone and called Nathan.

It rang. And rang.

He didn’t pick up.

My eyes stayed glued to that rocking car, two naked body tangling together.

My hand clenched into a fist.

The man in that car was HIM.

Fucking another woman hard. Rough.

Nothing like the sweet, obedient husband I knew.

Finally, the ringing must’ve gotten too annoying. Killing the mood.

Leila reached for his phone to shut it off, but Nathan quickly stopped her.

“No-don’t. That’s my wife. If I turn off, she’ll worry about me.”

“Just don’t talk. I’ll handle it.”

Leila’s dark with annoyance.

“Fucking buzzkill. Always interrupting my fun.”

Nathan covered her mouth and picked up.

“Hey babe! Miss me already? We’ve only been apart like two hours!”

His voice came through the cracked window.

I forced myself to calm down.

“Why didn’t you pick up right away?”

“I was practicing, babe! Couldn’t get to the phone!”

“Okay, I gotta go now, or my instructor’s gonna yell at me again. You don’t want to delay my progress, do you?”

Before I could respond, he hit me with “Love you, babe” and hung up.

I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel.

I didn’t have the courage to storm over and catch them on spot.

I couldn’t bear to watch man I once loved-the boy I’d met with such innocence-shatter before my eyes.

Just as my eyes were burning, my coworker Rachelapproached.

“Hey, you okay?”

I forced a bitter smile. “Yeah. Just got something in my eye.”

“Oh, good. Come on, let’s go!”

“That car up there’s parked illegally. Tsk… bet they’re getting busy in there.”

“But hey, it’s our job. Gotta write ’em up.”

Rachel smirked.

“Let’s see who’s bold enough to pull this crap in the middle of the night.”

She walked over. I followed.

As we got closer, I heard his voice again through the cracked window.

I clenched my fists so hard my nails dug into my palms.

I was about to lose it when Rachel banged on the window.

“AH-FUCK!”

“Who the hell-Jesus Christ, no manners!”

They scrambled apart, screaming.

Leila cursed while grabbing her jacket to cover herself.

When they saw it was traffic cops, they shut up real quick and opened the door.

Nathan wouldn’t look at us. He hid behind Leila like a coward.

“Ma’am, you’re parked illegally.”

“You’ll be getting points on your license and a fine-”

Rachel stopped mid-sentence. She smelled it.

“Wait-it’s you guys again!”

“Did you drink this time?”

Leila was a driving instructor, knew exactly what it meant to drink and drive.

When I heard Rachel say “you guys again,” it finally clicked.

The couples she’d often cited for illegal parking before-

Had been my dear husband.

Nathan’s head shot up. He scrambled to defend them.

“We weren’t drinking and driving! We just had a little to set the mood!”

“Yeah! Just part of the fun. You get it.”

Rachel’s face went dead serious.

“If you’ve both been drinking, neither of you should be driving.”

“Get out. We’re impounding the car!”
