Ticket for Cheating novel Chapter 17

Chapter 8

In her post, she painted herself as completely innocent.

She claimed she had no idea it was a work motorcycle-thought it was Brett’s personal bike.

She claimed she didn’t know I was in danger-said Brett told her I was just being dramatic.

She claimed she’d begged Brett multiple times to go check on me, but he insisted on taking her to the concert, saying “can’t waste the ticket

money.”

She even posted screenshots of her chat history with Brett.

In those messages, Brett had actually written:

“Ignore that crazy bitch. She’s just jealous of you.”

“Don’t worry, Tessa. I’ve got your back no matter what.”

That backstab buried Brett completely.

My lawyer told me that when Brett saw her post from his holding cell, he literally coughed up blood from rage.

He couldn’t understand how the girl who used to call him her best friend, who swore he was her ride-or-die for life, could turn on him faster than flipping a page.

He didn’t realize-that’s just human nature.

That’s what his precious “pure friendship” was really worth.

When self-interest and survival were on the line? Absolutely nothing.

A month later, the verdict came down.

Brett was fired from the force and charged with abuse of power.

Prison time was waiting for him.

Right before he went in, I finally received the signed divorce papers.

Apparently on the day he signed them, he begged the lawyer to pass me a note.

It said: “I’m sorry.”

I stared at those three words and felt nothing.

I threw it in the trash.

Could those words erase what he’d done?

My baby, slowly losing breath on that frozen night-what was he thinking?

He must have been waiting for his daddy to save him.

Chapter 8

But his daddy was too busy playing hero for another woman.

This wasn’t over yet.

Brett got what he deserved, but Tessa wasn’t getting off easy either.

She might have escaped legal consequences, but some punishments hurt worse than the law.

Her damage-control essay didn’t fool anyone online.

People said she was treating them like idiots.

So internet sleuths dug up all her social media accounts.

They found mountains of evidence, showing how she’d exploited Brett’s position for personal gain.

Like the post where she bragged about riding in his work vehicle to get boba.

Or when Brett used the department’s drone to shoot photos for her.

There was even one time she got a parking ticket and posted:

“One call to Brett and it disappeared.”

All that evidence got sent in bulk to her company, and every single one of her business partners.

tha worked in influencer management-reputation was everything.

Now? She became a pariah overnight.

Her company immediately released a statement firing her and sued her for damaging their image, demanding massive compensation for breach

of contract.

All those guys she used to flirt with treated her like the plague-blocked and deleted her one by one.

What I didn’t expect was that Tessa, now completely desperate, would actually track me down.
