Chapter 8
I knew the second Dominic spotted me at that airport, he’d come looking.
Just didn’t expect him to move this fast.
Next morning, his black Maybach was parked right outside Kingsley Enterprises.
He tried to barge in., but my assistant stopped him at the stairs.
“Mr. Blackwell, please wait.”
Dominic’s eyes were bloodshot, voice wrecked.
“Get Sophia down here! She walked out without a word-she owes me an explanation!”
“Come home. She’s still Mrs. Blackwell!”
The assistant smiled politely.
“Mr. Blackwell, with all due respect-that Mrs. Blackwell you’re talking about? She died six months ago.”
“You signed the divorce papers yourself. The woman here now is Mrs. Kingsley. Sophie Hart.”
Dominic’s fists clenched.
He stormed back to his office, only to overhear a conversation outside the break room between Vanessa and her mother.
“Mom, that setup we pulled on Sophia worked perfectly. She’s been gone six months. Never coming back.”
Helen snorted.
“She was taking my daughter’s spot. If I didn’t get rid of her, there’d be no room for you and my grandson.”
Vanessa laughed. “You’re so right, Mom.”
Dominic felt his head spin, barely able to stand.
He shoved the door open, voice like ice. “What did you just say?”
They both jumped.
Blood vessels burst in Dominic’s eyes. “You set her up? Together?”
Helen panicked for a second, then her face hardened.
“Setup? Dominic, is that how you talk to your savior’s mother?”
“My Marcus died for YOU. The Sterlings almost went extinct because of you! And this is the thanks we get?”
Vanessa reached for him, all fake tears.
He yanked his arm away hard.

Right then, every gentle, innocent thing he’d believed about her shattered.
After that, Dominic went into overdrive trying to fix things.
Expensive jewelry, limited-edition bags, handwritten letters-all of it flooding Kingsley Enterprises.
I sent it all back.
Finally Dominic lost it and showed up at my door.
“Sophie! How long are you gonna keep this up?”
“I screwed up. I get it. You want me to rip my heart out and show you?”
His voice cracked in the rain.
I didn’t want to draw attention, so I let him in.
The second he stepped in.
“Sophie. You’re finally talking to me.”
“I know you hate me. It’s all MY fault-I shouldn’t have believed others over you.”
“Hit me, yell at me, whatever you want-just come back.”
He reached for me. I stepped back.
“Dominic Blackwell. We’re divorced.” My voice stayed flat.
getting remarried.”
“remarried” drained all color from his face.
No… did he force you?”
I actually laughed.
“For five years, you let your mother humiliate me, let Vanessa sabotage me, and never gave me a chance to explain.”
“That night you almost beat me to death. If Adrian hadn’t shown up when he did, I’d be dead.”
“Dominic. We’re done. Have been for a while.”
He tried to speak, but Adrian suddenly stepped forward, pushing him aside.
Adrian’s gaze was ice-cold, blocking me.
“Mr. Blackwell. Show some respect.”
“Sophie’s suffered enough because of you.”
Dominic’s face went gray, lips trembling, no words coming out.
Finally he choked out: “I’ll make this right!”

Chapter 8
Later I heard Dominic tore through both families.
He discovered everything Vanessa had done.
She lost it, fell down the stairs.
Helen had a stroke from the shock. Bedridden ever since.
Blackwell Group stock crashed within days. Vanessa’s illegal fundraising scheme under the company name got exposed.
Securities regulators launched an investigation. Dominic drowned in debt.
I heard he spent days locked in his study, staring at my photo, repenting.
One snowy night, a deranged Vanessa drove into the villa.
She died on impact. Dominic survived, but lost both legs and arms.
He would live forever haunted by his past and regrets.
Few days later, I woke up feeling nauseous.
Adrian rushed me to the hospital, worried sick.
When the doctor handed me the ultrasound, we just looked at each other and smiled.
Outside, magnolias were blooming.
This time, I’d welcome new life into a home full of actual love.
