She milked that pregnancy for everything.

Her greed got more disgusting by the day, and Dominic was sick of it.

He started avoiding Vanessa, locking himself away in the villa all day.

That’s when he finally thought about Sophia. About the five years she’d been there.

That’s when he finally remembered Sophie-the past five years with her.

How she kept the house spotless, cared for the family every single day.

And their wedding day-her in that white dress, eyes full of stars, asking him:

“Dominic, we’ll be together forever, right?”

All those little things he’d taken for granted now tore him apart every night.

The insomnia got worse and worse.

One pill became three, but nothing worked.

Six months later.

He flew private to Switzerland to see some top psychiatrist.

At the airport VIP lounge, he saw someone familiar.

Elegant dress, soft waves in her hair, her whole face glowing in a way it never had before.

Dominic stopped dead.

Sophia.

It was really her.

Not broken, not desperate, not worn down by life.

The opposite. Everything about her radiated this ease, this happiness she’d never had in five years with him.

Regret hit him like a tidal wave.

Then some guy slipped his arm around her waist.

Dominic completely lost it.

He turned and basically ran out of the lounge.

Back at the office, he summoned his assistant, voice icy.

“Find everything on a woman named Sophie Hart.”
