Chapter 8
He was waiting downstairs at my office building, and when Julian and I came out of the elevator laughing and chatting, Daniel actually grabbed a cup of coffee and rushed over to throw it at Julian.
I reacted quickly and blocked the coffee myself.
I turned to face Daniel, absolutely furious.
He’d brought Sophia with him-apparently they were still together.
“Zelda, are you breaking up with me because of him?”
I stormed over and slapped him across the face.
“Do I need to explain how we broke up in front of everyone here?”
“Seriously? Just because I was practicing sex with Sophia before our wedding, you can’t handle it?”
I was stunned. This was a serious matter involving basic dignity and respect, but in his eyes, it was apparently no big deal-just some trivial
thing.
I truly regretted wasting three years of my life on this man.
If I hadn’t understood Italian, I’d probably still be in the dark right now, still playing the fool.
“Zelda, you’re such a hypocrite! You cheated too, so you have no right to blame anyone else.”
“Everyone look! This woman abandoned her fiancé to cheat with someone else. She’s such a gold digger, trying to marry this rich guy!”
I looked at Sophia like she was a complete idiot. This was France! Even if some people understood English, they had no idea what she was doing, screaming and causing a scene like that.
I grabbed her by the hair and slapped her several times.
Then I had security throw both of them out.
“Zelda, how can you treat me like this?”
“Yes, I cheated and that was wrong. I apologized to you! But you didn’t tell me you were selling the house and had me kicked out. How is that
right?”
“Sophia only came because she was worried about my safety. She’s here to protect me.”
I looked at him calmly: “Daniel, whatever’s going on between you and Sophia is none of my business. The house was mine-I can sell it whenever I want without reporting to anyone.”
“And next time you want to lie, please cover up those hickeys on your neck first. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
I turned to look at Julian and smiled as I took his hand.
He was looking back at me, his eyes full of stars, seeing only my reflection.
In that moment, I felt determined to be with him forever.

I realized I’d already fallen for this elegant, gentlemanly man.
“He’s my boyfriend.”
I turned back to Daniel-he looked absolutely panicked.
“My boyfriend is amazing. Why would I want a cheating piece of trash like you? Take a good look at yourself-what exactly do you have to offer?”
