Ticket for Cheating novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

When I got back to the Winters estate, Dominic Kane was waiting for me.

He stood there in a perfectly tailored suit, his sharp features cold and handsome.

But I’d just walked out of a failed marriage.

I wasn’t in the mood to appreciate how good-looking he was.

What surprised me was how perceptive he was. Like he could read my mind.

“Xenia. Let the past stay in the past. Life’s never perfect.”

“If you keep holding on, the only person you’re hurting is yourself.”

That last line made me turn and look at him.

He was right.

If I kept clinging to what was gone, I’d be the only one suffering.

And just like that, something clicked.

decided to postpone the engagement.

First, I’d take over my father’s business empire.

If Dominic and I got along, I’d marry him.

If we didn’t, no point in wasting each other’s time.

Turns out, we got along great.

Better than great.

Every day, I found myself liking him more. Respecting him more.

Dominic wasn’t just some rich guy. He was sharp.

His insights on business were even better than mine.

talked more. Grew closer.

He made me forget Nathan completely. And slowly, I let him in.

Then, just when things between us were getting serious, I ran into Nathan at a restaurant.

He was with Leila.

But he looked like hell. Thinner. Distracted. Lost.

I was about to leave with Dominic when Nathan spotted me.

“Babe! Is that you?!”

I didn’t answer. Just kept walking.

I wasn’t scared of him. I was just done.

But Nathan kicked off his shoes and ran after me anyway.

The second he saw my face, his whole expression lit up.

“Xenia! Finally! I found you!”

“Where have you been?! Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?!”

“I missed you so much-”

He reached out to hug me.

Before I could react, Dominic grabbed his wrist.

“Excuse me. Show some respect.”

“This woman is my fiancée. And you just called her ‘babe’?”

“What’s even more pathetic is that you walked in here with another woman.”

saw you two making out before we even sat down.”

what is this? You can’t get one woman, so you’re going after two?”

Nathan shot me a look, ready to snap back.

But Dominic’s presence-his wealth, his confidence-shut him up real quick.

I slipped my arm through Dominic’s and looked Nathan dead in the eye.

“Running into someone doesn’t mean we’re rekindling anything. Your girlfriend’s right over there.”

“And for the record, this is my fiancé. We’re getting married next month.”

Nathan’s face went white.

He stammered, eyes darting between me and Dominic.

.0-Xenia, it’s not what it looks like.”

“After you left, I cut things off with her. But she kept chasing me. I only came here to tell her it’s over. I swear.”

“I’m not lying-”

I cut him off.

“Sir. Whatever the truth is, it’s none of my business anymore. You don’t need to explain anything to me.”

“Just do us both a favor and move on.”

Before I could walk away, Leila strutted over with a smug grin.

“Oh, please. You’re cheating too, Xenia.”

“Look at you, clinging to some new guy while mocking the ex.”

The second she opened her mouth, I remembered-I still had unfinished business with her.

“Miss Sinclair. That’s rich coming from you.”

“You make a career out of seducing married men.”

“But don’t worry. I’ve got a little gift for you. Something you’ll never forget.”

I turned to Dominic. “Let’s go. This place reeks.”

Dominic smirked. “Actually, I want to stay. Watch the show.”

“I texted my assistant the second I saw them. I knew they’d run their mouths.”

Right on cue, a group of women stormed into the restaurant. Furious. Out for blood.

“LEILA SINCLAIR! You’ve been screwing my husband?!”

“Block the exits! Don’t let her run!”

down! I’m gonna rip her apart!”

bod there, frozen, finally realizing the truth.

Ma hadn’t just been with him. She’d been with a lot of men.

Screams echoed through the restaurant.

I knew she was done for.

I took Dominic’s hand. “Okay. Show’s over. Can we go now?”

He nodded, satisfied.

“Now that’s how you fight back. Being weak and forgiving? That’s not kindness. That’s stupidity.”

I laughed and kissed his face. Then we walked out together.

By the time Nathan snapped out of his daze, I was already gone.

He knew this was it.

We’d never see each other again.

He collapsed to the floor, sobbing.

Meanwhile, Leila was beaten so badly the hospital couldn’t save her career-or her reputation.

The driving school found out what she’d been doing and fired her on the spot.
