At the dinner table, Felipa did something unprecedented by serving food onto Nova's plate, advising, "You didn't get proper postpartum rest after your miscarriage. Do you need me to go to Clearwater Manor to help nurse you back to health?"
Nova pressed her lips together and looked at Felipa.
Felipa's eyes were red, obviously having cried for Belinda's sake just moments ago.
Putting on this kind of show now was solely to set Belinda's mind at ease, not out of any genuine concern for her.
"No need, thank you, Mrs. Forrester." Nova subtly looked away.
Hearing the formal title, Felipa frowned. Glancing at Belinda, who was looking their way, she reprimanded Nova with clear displeasure: "Nova, you and Tristan aren't divorced yet. What's this 'Mrs. Forrester' nonsense? You should be calling me Mom!"
Mom?
Nova found it utterly laughable.
When she first married Tristan, she had called her that once. Felipa had snapped at her to shut her mouth, sneering that she was no mother of hers.
Nova completely ignored her.
Felipa looked at Tristan, hoping her son would scold Nova.
To her surprise, Tristan didn't even glance her way. Instead, he pushed a bowl of soup in front of Nova.
A strong fishy smell hit Nova's nose. Unable to hold it back, she gagged, immediately covered her mouth and nose, and scrambled up, rushing straight for the powder room sink.
Felipa frowned. "Why is she acting like she has morning sickness? Didn't Nova lose the baby?"
Tristan, who had stood up to follow her, paused his steps and glanced over his shoulder.
Belinda was frantic. "Go check on her quickly! Is it because she hasn't fully recovered?"
With that, she slammed her silverware down heavily. "In this house, as long as Nova is around, no one is allowed to bring up anything about pregnancies or miscarriages. Hearing it will break her heart!"
Abdul looked at Felipa. She nodded submissively and ordered the staff to replace the soup with flavors Nova preferred.
Only then did Belinda seem somewhat satisfied.
At the bathroom sink, Nova threw up violently until the world spun. She felt someone gently patting her back.
She tried to wave the person away, feeling thoroughly nauseous and disgusting right now.
But the person didn't leave. Instead, they grabbed her wrist and continued soothing her back.
Nova assumed it was one of the maids.
